An arrangement (2) for guiding a material web (1) continuously transported through a roller gap is disclosed, whereby said arrangement is located before a roller gap (7), considered in the direction of transport of said material web. The arrangement (2) comprises a channel with a rectangular cross-section, through which the material web (1) runs. Said channel (9) is higher than the thickness of the material web and not as high as double said thickness of the material web. The width of the channel (7) corresponds to the maximum width of the material web in the narrowest position of said channel. Furthermore, a device comprising said arrangement and the use of said arrangement and device are disclosed.

The invention refers to a device and a method for stabilising a metallic object (1) of magnetic material. The metallic object is intended to be transported along a transportation path (2, 3) including a plane (x). The plane includes a transportation direction (x) and is substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the object (1) in said path. A sensor (5, 6) is arranged to sense the value of parameter depending on the position of the object (1) with respect to the plane (x). A substantially stationary electromagnetic actuator (7, 8) is arranged to apply a magnetic force to the object in response to the sensed position. The magnetic force includes at least a force component directed transversely to the transportation direction (4) and transversely to the plane (x).

The invention relates to a device for separating strips (S1 - S12), especially metal strips, conveyed in said device side by side in their longitudinal direction. The inventive device comprises at least one separation unit (N) that extends in one axial direction (X) in which one guide element each (F10 F25) is correlated with respective strips (S1 S12). Said guide element guides the strip (S1 S12) that is disposed therein in a form fit in a plane (E1, E2) that is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis (L) of the separation unit (N) and that is different from every plane of the guide elements (F10 F25) that are disposed adjacent to it. The inventive separation device has a simple design and allows separation of the strips in a reliable and time-saving manner. The invention further relates to advantageous uses of such a device.

The invention relates to an apparatus for continuously reeling a paper web (W), especially a high-loss magazine paper web, around a reel spool (68). The apparatus comprises means for guiding the paper web towards the reel spool, means for winding the paper web around the reel spool to form a paper roll (PR), and means for positioning the paper web on the roll (PR) in different axial positions with respect to said reel spool (68). The means for positioning the paper web on the roll in different axial positions comprises oscillating means (66, 65) provided for an oscillating movement of the reel spool (68) in cross direction of the paper web (w).

Method for guiding a paper or board web in a paper manufacturing machine, a board manufacturing machine, or finishing units in connection with such machines, as well as an arrangement wherein the above-mentioned wire guide rolls in finishing units are used for guiding the web. According to the invention, web travel is guided by changing the travel position of at least one wire travelling in contact with the web such that the velocity vector of the wire at least at the point of contact of the web and the wire is directed sideways from the travel direction of the web center line when the web is brought onto the wire.

Film treatment surface provided with a propulsion system for circularly contoured film (5) along a circular path are disclosed. The essential propulsion and steering system is represented by two adjustable disks (2, 3), one being equipped with a propulsion wheel and a steering mechanism whereas the second disk embodies an idler wheel and a steering mechanism. The treatment surface was found to be beneficially suitable for the manufacture of cut shaped blanks made from shaped films of plasticized polyvinyl butyral. The blanks can be used in automobile windshields.

An equalizing roll and web tracking apparatus to be used in manufacturing for providing equal tension across a web during winding operations. The equalizing roll (10) utilizes a common axis shaft (12) mounted horizontally on two bearings (16) or clamped rigid supports (17) allowing for rotation. Mounted in the center of the shaft is a bearing assembly (18) having convex and concave portions (20, 22) disposed within a sleeve (26). The bearing assembly is centrally mounted inside a hollow cylinder or roll (30) machined to be in balance with respect to the centrally disposed bearing assembly. The equalizing roll tracking apparatus (100) utilizes an adjustable control arm assembly (102) having a pair of adjustable pivots (134, 136) with steering arms (140) linked to sensor arms (106). The distal ends (112) of the sensor arms are in contact with the edges of a web of material (116).

The invention relates to a bearing arrangement and a coupling element of a spreading roll. The spreading roll comprises roll segments (3) that are interconnected by coupling elements (14) to rotate around a shaft (2). Some of the roll segments (3) may not be mounted in bearings. The fastening on the shaft (2) is realized with one or more bearings (4) that are positioned in place by means of an outer casing (8) and a sleeve (5). The coupling elements (14) that are reinforced with an inner sleeve (18) replace the support previously supplied by the bearings (4).

In a device for guiding and tensioning a cloth with at least one cloth guide arranged obliquely to the cloth running direction, having a rotatable control roller (1) and a rotatable counter-roller (2) parallel thereto, taking an edge region (K1, K2) between them, and also having a pressure member (3) engaging with the control roller to press the control roller against the counter-roller, a sensor device generating correcting signals proportional to the edge position and a control device to adjust the pressure member and affected by the correcting signals in order to correct any cloth offset, the pressure member (3) is steplessly adjustable up to a limit (Q) on the length of roller engagement which is still acceptable for cloth offset correction and varies the clamping force without lifting the control roller off completely. The pressure member (3) cannot be adjusted to release the clamping force until length of engagement is less than the limit (Q).
