    Abstract: The instant invention relates to the use of water-soluble polymers comprising structural elements of formula (I) wherein each R is independently H or C1-5-alkyl; X is H, an alkaline or earth alkaline metal or a quaternary ammonium group; R1 is H or C1-18-alkyl; and R2 is C1-18-alkyl; and wherein the alkyl groups represented by R1 and R2 may carry a hydroxy or amino substituent; and, if desired, a minor proportion of structural elements of formula (II) wherein R, R1, R2 and X may have the meaning as above, and Alk is a C1-C5-alkylene chain, as additives for inhibiting the formation of gas hydrates in connection with hydrocarbon production and transportation.

    Abstract: A device for dosed release of a fluid from a source (4) for this fluid to a receiver (12) via a pipe (8). The device comprises an influencing device (2) for influencing the release of the fluid from the source (4), and a control device (30) for control of the influencing device. According to the invention the device comprises a fluid accumulator (20) which communicates with the pipe (8) at a location (16) between the influencing device (2) and the receiver (12). The influencing device (2) is an electrically operated shut-off valve which is arranged to be opened by means of impulses from the control device (30) when the pressure of the fluid in the accumulator (20) has reached a minimum value (P1min), and to be closed when this pressure has reached a maximum value (P1max). When the shut-off valve (2) has been closed and the accumulator (20) has been filled, the accumulator (20) effects release of the fluid to the receiver (12).

    Abstract: An oil field production chemical, especially a scale inhibitor, is in the form of particles thereof carrying a coating e.g. of a dispersing agent. The coating may be polymeric such as an oligomeric polyacid polyester, a polymeric alkoxylated alcohol or a fatty acid polyamine condensate or it may also be a surfactant and may be used in the form of a suspension in an inert oil, such as diesel oil or kerosene which may be injected into a subterranean formation to inhibit the formation of deposits, e.g. scale in oil wells over a longer period than compounds free of the coating.
