Abstract:
A system for turning off a power supply in a predetermined part of an electrical system. The system comprises: a detector for determining a fire and/or the presence of an ignitable gas and/or the presence of an air-born ignitable material; and a power- controlling apparatus arranged to turn off an electrical power supply in the predetermined part of the electrical system. Moreover, the detector is adapted to control the power-controlling apparatus such that upon detection of a fire and/or an ignitable material, the power-controlling apparatus is activated to turning off the power in the predetermined part of the electrical system.
Abstract:
A detector includes a component having a surface. The surface includes, or is at least partially coated with, a contaminant-resistant or self-cleaning material. This allows the detector to remain clean without manual cleaning.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a battery-powered smoke / fire alarm unit which comprises a housing accommodating: at least a first battery; a smoke / fire detector linked to an audible alarm powered by the first battery; a telecommunications unit; and a switch responsive to triggering of the alarm to then connect the telecommunications unit to the first battery or to a second battery in the housing to thence power the telecommunications unit to send a warning message.
Abstract:
A temperature sensing glove (101), comprising (a) a temperature sensor (131); (b) a plurality of memory locations; and (c) assigning means (121, 123) for assigning a temperature reading made by the temperature sensor to one of the plurality of memory locations.
Abstract:
An automated and/or remote method for identifying and/or changing the source of power for these generator sets, which may apply to any environment where there are alternative sources of power available which must be managed remotely (such as for other powered containers not used for refrigeration transport).
