Abstract:
For the securing of the web end of a number of web rolls, which lie adjacent to one another or side by side, tapes which shall be applied onto the rolls are transferred from a tape dispenser (13) to a tape conveyor (14, 22) such that the tapes will contact the conveyor through their non-adhering surface at a distance from one another corresponding to the desired distances between the tapes on the roll/rolls of web material. The conveyor with the tapes thereafter is moved towards the web roll/rolls, each tape being directed towards that place on the roll/rolls where the tape shall be applied with an adhering side brought into contact with the respective roll and secured to the roll at the said place. The conveyor then is removed, the tapes remaining secured to the roll/rolls therein that the adhering side of the tapes has a greater adhering power to the roll/rolls than the non-adhering side has to the conveyor.
Abstract:
A dunnage conversion system includes a machine for converting a stock material into a strip of relatively lower-density dunnage, a coiling mechanism for winding the strip into a coil, a taping mechanism for automatically securing a trailing end of the strip to the coil, and a coil ejecting mechanism for automatically removing the coil from the coiling mechanism. The taping mechanism includes a guide surface between an outlet of the machine and the coiling mechanism to guide the strip to the coiling mechanism and to guide tape for engagement with a trailing end of the strip and to secure the trailing end of the strip to the coil. The coil ejecting mechanism includes a lever arm that pivots to push the completed coil off the coiling mechanism.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus (20) for applying adhesive, comprising a support structure (21) and an application head (23) disposed movably in the support structure, a first adhesive container (22) and adhesive feeding means for feeding adhesive from the first adhesive container to the application head (23). The application head comprises a second adhesive container (231) and the feeding means comprise connections (232, 233) in the application head and in the support structure within the movement range of the application head so that the application head is movable to a position in the support structure where the connections of the application head and the support structure may be coupled for feeding adhesive from the first container (22) to the second container (231). The invention also relates to the corres ondin method.
Abstract:
A product comprising a convolutely wound web material is disclosed. The web material has a tail portion disposed adjacent an immediately subjacent convolution of the web material. The product also has a fluid disposed upon the immediately subjacent convolution from an applicator surface. The tail portion is disposed upon the fluid disposed upon the immediately subjacent convolution.
Abstract:
A process for sealing the tail of a convolutely wound web material is disclosed. The process comprises the steps of: (a) providing the convolutely wound web material (12) having a tail portion (48) conneσtively associated thereto; (b) disposing the tail portion away from an immediately subjacent convolution of the convolutely wound web material; (c) disposing a fluid upon the immediately subjacent convolution; and, (d) fixably and removeably disposing the tail portion of the convolutely wound web material upon the fluid disposed upon the immediately subjacent convolution.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method in winding a fibre web in connection with the set change of a slitter-winder, in which method the fibre web (W) is wound in a carrier roll windup, in which partial webs (W) wound by the slitter-winder are wound to web rolls (10) carried by a front carrier roll (11) and a rear carrier roll (12, 13, 14) around cores. In the method, cores are fed to the slitter-winder as an array for the set change. For the time of the set change i.e. for removing completed rolls (10) and starting new rolls (10), the winding is stopped. The web is cut by a cutting blade (15), the tails of partial webs are fastened to web rolls, completed partial web rolls are removed by means of a roll pusher (17) and new cores are transferred to the support of the carrier rolls (11, 12, 13, 14). In the method, when removing the completed partial web roll (10) from the slitter- winder by the roll pusher (17), the main tail part of a glue stripe formed by glue applied to the end of the web is pressed finally fast in a nip between the roll pusher (17) and the partial web roll (10). The invention relates also to a device in winding a fibre web in connection with the set change of a slitter-winder, which device is arranged into connection with a carrier roll windup, which carrier roll windup comprises a rear carrier roll (11) and a front carrier roll (12, 13, 14), carried by which the partial webs cut to partial webs by the slitter-winder are wound to partial web rolls around winding tubes (20) i.e. cores. The device comprises a roll pusher (17), which roll pusher (17) is pivoted into connection with the windup so that the pusher (17) is arranged to push the roll (10) out of the windup forming a nip between the roll pusher (17) and the completed partial web roll (10) for the final compression of the glue stripe applied to the tail of the partial web roll.
Abstract:
The device comprises a system for unwinding a portion of the web material from the log R, and a system for rewinding the tail end on the log after application of an adhesive. Moreover, a folding member 21 is provided, to fold the tail end and form a fold of web material defining a portion for gripping and detaching the folded loose end from the roll.
Abstract:
Multi-ply products, especially rolled multi-ply product, more particularly rolled multi-ply sanitary tissue products, comprising a consumer accessible tab and methods for making same are provided.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a holding device for the end (2) of a strip of material that is wound onto a coil (1), wherein the coil (1) is mounted on a carrier unit (4). The aim of the invention is to prevent undesirable unwinding of the strip of material. The invention is characterized in that a clamp unit (5) that is substantially U-shaped in its entirety is provided, said clamp unit having on the free ends of both particularly tubular legs (6) at least one fixing unit (7) for supporting or fixing on the corresponding end area (9) of the carrier unit (4), which projects from the coil (1) and which is preferably cylindrical in shape. A clamping unit (8) grasping or fixing one the end (2) of the strip of sheet metal (3) is placed or embodied on the clamp unit (5) at a distance from the fixing unit (7), preferably in the base area or in an area close to the base of at least one leg (6). The invention further relates to a system for mounting two or several strips of material that are wound onto a coil, respectively.
