    Abstract: A method is provided for generating an output from an input according to a secret using a white-box implementation of a cryptographic function having a first operation, a second operation, and a third operation. The method applies the input to a first operation to generate a first intermediate result, applies the first intermediate result to a second operation to generate a second intermediate result, and applies the second intermediate result to a third operation to generate the output, wherein at least two of the first operation, the second operation, and the third operation is implemented by a plurality of interconnected logic elements, the interconnection of the plurality of logic elements being comprised of one of a non-algebraic interconnection of logic elements and an algebraic interconnection of logic elements having obfuscated boundaries between the at least one of the first operation, the second operation and the third operation.

    Abstract: A method provides an origin certificate that can be issued as a digital certificate online. The method includes receiving an origin digital certificate and an encrypted client device private key from an offline certificate authority wherein the client device private key is encrypted according to a private key encryption key PrKEK. The method further includes receiving from the client device, a request for a client device digital certificate and the encrypted client device private key, selecting a digital certificate template for the client device, the digital certificate template having attributes that vary according to the client devices, building the client device digital certificate from the origin digital certificate and the selected digital certificate template, signing the client device digital certificate with an online certificate authority signing key, and transmitting the signed client device digital certificate and the encrypted device private key.

    Abstract: A method of decoding JVET video includes receiving a bitstream indicating how a coding tree unit was partitioned into coding units, and parsing said bitstream to generate at least one predictor based on an intra prediction mode signaled in the bitstream. The predictor may be generated by interpolating neighboring pixels for each pixel within a coding block. The computation may be more accurate by deriving a value for a bottom right neighboring pixel.

    Abstract: A system and method are provided for recommending a segment of a segmented video asset of particular interest to a client. A copy of a video asset is created such that the copy is in the form of a set of segments for being transmitted to a client device for playback. A relationship is established between start and end times of each segment relative to a standard version of segments of the video asset, and metadata is generated for each segment of the copy. The metadata and relationship is used relative to the standard version with viewing data collected across a population of viewers having viewed the video asset to produce viewing metrics for each segment of the set of segments of the copy. The viewing metrics are provided to a recommender which uses the viewing metrics to generate a recommendation of a segment of the copy to a client.

    Abstract: An apparatus, method and computer-readable medium provide control of set top box volume based on mobile device events. The apparatus may execute a process that includes controlling a volume setting of an audio amplifier to output audio content to the one or more audio or audio/visual devices. A connection event signal from a mobile device is received via a wireless radio frequency receiver. The connection event signal indicates a call state of the mobile device. In response to receiving the connection event signal, a received signal strength indication associated with the connection event signal obtained.     Abstract: Particular embodiments use the segmented bandwidth in downstream channels and upstream channels to manage a narrowcast service for subscribers. Particular embodiments include a channel manager that can process the signal from the headend to down-convert and filter narrowcast services that are sent in one or more of the downstream channels. Also, in the upstream direction, the channel manager can up-convert and stack narrowcast signals for sending to the headend. Further, in one embodiment, the narrowcast service may be provided using visible light communication (e.g., Li-Fi). Using visible light communication may overcome the last connection restrictions described in the background, such as end to end optical connections may be used. Further, using visible light communication may not interfere with other Wi-Fi links in the subscriber premises, such as existing MoCA connections, and may actually enhance the service at the subscriber premises.
