Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a thermoset omniphobic composition, which includes a thermoset polymer with first, second, and third backbone segments, urethane groups linking the first and third backbone segments, and urea groups linking the first and second backbone segments. The first, second, and third backbone segments generally correspond to urethane or urea reaction products of polyisocyanate(s), amine-functional hydrophobic polymer(s), and polyol(s), respectively. The thermoset omniphobic composition has favorable omniphobic properties, for example as characterized by water and/or oil contact and/or sliding angles. The thermoset omniphobic composition can be used as a coating on any of a variety of substrates to provide omniphobic properties to a surface of the substrate. Such omniphobic coatings can be scratch resistant, ink/paint resistant, dirt-repellent, and optically clear. The thermoset omniphobic composition can be applied by different coating methods including cast, spin, roll, spray and dip coating methods.

Abstract:
Disclosed are improved water-based, polyamide-containing synthetic polymer coating compositions and related products and processes. The coating composition comprises 1 to 40% dry weight of polyamide powder, and can contain higher polyamide content than organic solvent-based coating products containing polyamide and polyurethane. The improved coating compositions are suitable for coating of metal substrates, such as aluminum sheets and panels. The improved coating compositions are also suitable for industrial coil coating processes, forming a thin and uniform coating layer when applied to a metal substrate, such as an aluminum sheet surface. Methods and processes related to production and uses of the coating compositions are described, as well as products produced by the processes using the coating compositions, such as roller shutters and architectural panels.

A modified coating composition is disclosed. Said modified coating composition comprises a coating composition, a modifier, at least one dispersing agent, at least one solvent and at least one binder, wherein the coating composition, the modifier, the at least one dispersing agent, the at least one solvent and the binder are collectively ground to obtain nanoparticles of the modifier dispersed therein. The modifier, in accordance with the present invention, comprises of mixed oxide particles bonded to a silane crosslinking agent. Herein, the mixed oxide particles comprise alumina and silica in a weight ratio between 30:70 and 40:60.

The present invention relates to moisture-curable silane-reactive hot melt compositions having an acrylate-urethane copolymer moiety. Desirably, the silane groups contain alkoxy functionality to enable and enhance moisture curing. Such compositions provide enhanced green strength without sacrificing other desirable properties.
