    Abstract: A curable silicone composition is provided. The composition comprises: (A) an epoxy-functional silicone resin having monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon groups; (B) an epoxy-functional silicone; (C) a cationic photoinitiator; and (D) a silatrane derivative or a carbasilatrane derivative, wherein each derivative has at least one silicon atom-bonded alkoxy group per molecule. The composition has excellent curability with UV radiation, and further with heating, generally forms a cured product with excellent thermal and light resistance, and adhesion properties.

    Abstract: A composition containing: (a) a polysiloxane resin, wherein the polysiloxane resin contains the following siloxane units: [R3SiO1/2], [(OZ)qSiO(4-q)/2] and at least one of [(OZ)t REPSiO(3-t)/2] and [(OZ)d RREPSiO(2-d)/2]; where: each R is independently in each occurrence selected from hydrocarbyls, REP is an epoxy functional hydrocarbyl group, subscript q is in each occurrence a number selected from a range of 0-3, subscript t is in each occurrence a number selected from a range of 0-2, and subscript d is in each occurrence a number selected from a range of 0-1 provided that the average concentration of OZ groups is at least 15 mole-percent relative to moles of silicon atoms in the polysiloxane resin; (b) a photo acid generator; (c) a moisture cure catalyst; and (d) optionally, an epoxy functional diluent.

    Abstract: A method of preparing an alkoxy-functional organosiloxane compound is provided. The method comprises reacting (A) an initial organosiloxane compound and (B) an alcohol component in the presence of (C) a catalyst and, optionally, (D) an organosilicon compound, thereby preparing the alkoxy-functional organosiloxane compound. The initial organosiloxane compound (A) comprises at least one silanol group. The alcohol component (B) comprises an organic alcohol. The catalyst (C) comprises an ammonium carboxylate compound. The organosilicon compound (D), when utilized, comprises at least one alkoxysilyl group. A reaction product comprising an alkoxy-functional organosiloxane compound prepared in accordance with the method, and compositions comprising the reaction product and the alkoxy-functional organosiloxane compound are also provided. The alkoxy-functional organosiloxane compound, and the reaction product and composition comprising the same, are prepared in increased purity low cyclic content from depolymerization.

    Abstract: A method for preparing functionalized polyorganosiloxanes is disclosed. The method includes 1) combining starting materials including A) a boron - containing Lewis acid catalyst, and B) an organosilicon compound having an average, per molecule of at least 1 silicon bonded groups of the formula -OR 2 ; wherein each R 2 is an independently selected monovalent hydrocarbon group of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, thereby forming a catalyzed mixture; and thereafter 2) adding the catalyzed mixture into a starting material including C) an organohydrogensiloxane having at least 1 silicon bonded hydrogen atom per molecule, thereby preparing a product comprising the functionalized polyorganosiloxane and a by-product comprising HR 2 .
