Abstract:
The present invention relates to knits that can be used to make rip-resistant sheer hosiery or similar garments, using a specific combination of UHMWPE fiber and stretch fiber, such as spandex. The knit has rip-resistant and anti-microbial properties. Details are provided to avoid problems with pilling and the appearance of bald spots during use. A variation of the knit is useful for activewear.
Abstract:
A double layer sock and a sock having a seam under the toes of a wearer are described. The sock includes a tubular outer layer and an inner layer. The tubular outer layer includes a foot portion and a leg portion. The foot portion defines a foot bottom portion and an upper instep portion. The inner layer includes a number of edges that define a perimeter and is substantially aligned with the foot bottom portion of the tubular outer layer. One of the yarns extends between the inner layer and the tubular outer layer to connect the inner layer and the tubular outer layer around the perimeter of the inner layer and at spaced apart wales and courses. A region of the double layer sock corresponding to the upper instep portion is single-layered while a region of the double layer sock corresponding to the foot bottom portion is double-layered.
Abstract:
Present aspects hereof are directed to a circular knitted apparel item, such as a sock (10), or a sleeve (900). The apparel item has at least a first segment (52, 82) with multiple knit courses (30-42; 60-70), and a second segment (54, 84) having the same number of multiple knit courses (30-42; 60-70) as the first segment. (52, 82) The apparel item has an aperture (24) separating the first segment (52, 82) and the second segment (54, 84), where the aperture (24) is occupied by a single strand (26) of yarn extending from the first segment (52, 82) to the second segment (54, 84). The first and second segments (52, 54; 82, 84) are formed by changing the circular knitting direction from one course to the next course in a reciprocating fashion, until the last course (42, 70) is formed, wherein the single strand (26) of yarn moves from the last course (42, 70) in the first segment (52, 82) to the first course (30, 60) in a next, adjacent segment (54, 84).

Abstract:
A textile upper for an article of footwear includes at least one microclimate moderation structure located at one or more regions of the upper. In an embodiment, a microclimate moderation structure includes a plurality of knitted strands, the knitted strands including a first strand type and a second strand type, the first strand type having a greater thermal conductivity than the second strand type. In another embodiment, the microclimate moderation structure includes an uneven exterior surface that includes a plurality of knitted beams and a plurality of indentations defined between the knitted beams.
Abstract:
A method for providing semi-finished tubular manufactured articles to be closed by stitching at an axial end thereof for the production of socks, and a semi-finished tubular manufactured article obtained with the method. The present method comprises a step of providing the body (1a) of the tubular manufactured article (1) and a step of providing an end portion (1b) of the tubular manufactured article (1) which is intended to be removed during the subsequent stitching operation in order to close an axial end of the tubular manufactured article (1). The step of providing the end portion (1b) comprises: - a step of providing an intermediate band (8) connected to the body (1a) of the manufactured article and thinner than the thickness at least of the rows of knitting of the body (1a) of the manufactured article which are connected to the intermediate band (8); - a step of providing an end edge (9) thicker than the thickness of the intermediate band (8). In the present method, the height of the intermediate band (8), proximate to the regions that constitute the lateral ends of the two flaps of the end portion (1b) to be overlapped in order to stitch the axial end to be closed of the tubular manufactured article (1), is lower than the height of the remaining part of the intermediate band (8).
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing tubular articles (1) provided with a grip region on their reverse side, particularly for providing hold-up stockings, by way of circular hosiery knitting machines, and a tubular article (1) obtained with the method, comprising the use of a circular hosiery knitting machine that has at least two feeds or drops, of which at least one first feed is capable of dispensing a bare elastomer yarn (3). According to the method of the invention, at the first feed, at least one needle of at least one group of contiguous needles is moved to a "tuck" position or to a "drop" position knit in order to pick up the bare elastomer yarn (3) while the other needles of the group of needles are held in or moved to the "miss" position and therefore excluded from picking up the bare elastomer yarn (3), and the needles of the group of needles are actuated at at least one subsequent feed in order to pick up the yarn or yarns dispensed at such subsequent feed and form knitting at least with the needles that were held in the "miss" position at the first feed.
Abstract:
High performance sport socks including multiple fabrics, and methods of making and using same, are provided. Under one aspect, a sock includes a first fabric defining a stem and a bifurcated region. The stem can be configured and arranged to be disposed on the Achilles tendon of a wearer, and the bifurcated region can be configured and arranged to be disposed on the calf of the wearer. The sock also can include a second fabric coupled to the first fabric inside of the bifurcated region and configured and arranged to be disposed on the calf of the wearer. The sock also can include a third fabric coupled to the first fabric outside of the bifurcated region and configured and arranged to be disposed on the shin of the wearer.
Abstract:
A graduated compression garment is disclosed that includes a plurality of longitudinal fuzzy wales arranged to form a fabric with a plurality of transverse elastomeric threads under variable tension connecting the adjacent longitudinal fuzzy wales to deliver a first level of elastic compression distally on a limb and a gradually decreasing level of elastic compression as the limb increases in diameter proximally.
