Abstract: A packaged food product (100; 101) includes a container (205) and a food product (200). The container (205) has a rim (105) and at least one sidewall (210) extending from the rim (105) to a bottom wall (300). The at least one sidewall (210) and the bottom wall (300) define a storage area (305), and the food product (200) is retained within the storage area (305) such that the food product (200) is in contact with the at least one sidewall (210). The at least one sidewall (210) is readily deformable by a hand of a user to reduce a volume of the storage area (305). Finger engaging recesses (320, 325) are formed in the bottom wall to assist in deforming the container (205), with reducing the volume of the storage area (305) causing the food product (200) to exit the storage area (305). The bottom wall (300) of the container (205) includes an integral tool portion (330) for breaking up and/or tenderizing the food product (200) after removal from the storage area (305). The food product (200) can be a wet cat or dog food.

Abstract: A carton (5) includes a first main body panel (60) spaced from a second main body panel (100) by first and second side panels (78, 134) and connected to the second main body panel (15) by a connector strip (25). With the removal of a tear strip (24), the connector strip (25) releases a cover (20) of the first main body panel (60) enabling an access opening to an internal storage region to be exposed. To close the carton (5), a lower top flap (106) of the second main body (100) is pivoted across the access opening, automatically causing multiple flap extensions (82, 87, 141, 146) of the side panels (78, 134) to fold beneath the lower top flap (106). Thereafter, the cover (20) is pivot atop the lower top flap (106) and a tab (22) of the cover (20) is received in a slot (112) formed at a juncture of the lower top flap (106) and a remainder of the second main body panel (100).

Abstract: A carton (5) can be initially opened by pulling a gripping tab (53) of a tear strip (45) to detach of cover (163) from the remaining body of the carton (5) except along a hinge body portion (164) on one side of the carton (5). With this arrangement, the carton (5) can be opened by folding the cover (163) back relative to the front panel (120) along a hinge axis (63). Closing of the carton (5) is performed by initially pivoting the cover (163) such that a front portion of the cover extends about and overlaps a front panel portion (120) of the carton (5). Then, the cover (5) is pushed down, causing a portion of the hinge-defining strip (164) to fold and the cover (163) to shift downward so as to extend about and overlap portions of each of the sides (15, 18, 19, 21) of the carton (5).

Abstract: A packaged wet pet food product (5) comprises a flexible container body (8) and an integrated dispenser head (20) for the storing and dispensing of wet pet food (74), specifically wet cat food or wet dog food. The flexible container body (8) can be manually grasped and squeezed in order to deform the container body (8) and force wet pet food (74) stored therein to be forced through a series of exit ports (41-43) formed in the dispenser head (20). The exit ports (41-43) combine to essentially define a sieve, with the wet pet food (74) automatically breaking into randomly sized pieces or extruded sections (124, 125) during dispensing, thereby advantageously avoiding the need to separately chop the pet food apart prior to consumption. The package is preferably sized to store enough pet food for multiple feedings, with the dispenser head (20) including a cap or cover (47) for sealing the container between uses.
