An ice dispensing system includes an ice hopper structure including a plurality of walls having inner surfaces that define an inner volume storing ice therein. The ice hopper may include a drain. A cleaning structure is coupled to the ice hopper structure. The cleaning structure includes a pump linked to a spray mechanism positioned within the inner volume of the ice hopper structure. The spray mechanism disperses a liquid on an inner surface of the ice hopper structure during a cleaning cycle of the ice dispensing mechanism.

A system for introducing liquid additive into an alcoholic beverage is characterized by an alcoholic beverage dispensing faucet and at least one liquid additive delivery line routed between a supply of liquid additive and the faucet. Liquid additive may optionally, incident to dispensing alcoholic beverage and under control of a user of the faucet, be delivered through the at least one delivery line for introduction into the dispensed alcoholic beverage.

A post-mix beverage dispensing valve is shown that provides for assembly thereof substantially manually. This easy assembly is provided for by a plurality of snap fitting component structures (30, 35, 38). A nozzle (69) is also shown that provides for higher flow rates. Lever operated and electronically operated embodiments of the valve are shown. The valve is also particularly designed to provide for an electronic switch/control module (44) separate from the valve housing cover. The valve further includes improved banjo valves and accompanying seat structures (Fig. 14) to provide for increased fluid flow and for fluid flow that is less turbulent.

The present invention relates to a self-cleaning nozzle. The nozzle is coated with a photocatalytic material and a UV light source is used to activate a chemical reaction that kills microbacteria. The nozzle may be made of a translucent material that allows UV light to enter the nozzle.

One embodiment of the storage and beverage dispense apparatus of the present invention includes a housing containing pumps (for example, for pressurizing water and syrup), a cooling and refrigeration system, and a syrup storage (commonly referred to as a Bag-in-Box or BIB system) in a single housing unit. The housing can be integral, or it may consist of modular components. Further the storage and beverage dispense apparatus of the present invention includes packaging these components in a housing, the need for a back room package is eliminated, thereby saving space and reducing the cost of plumbing. Moreover, the proximity of the pumps to the valves eliminates the pressure drop that can occur in long fluid lines.

A beverage dispenser that uses a slurry ice heat transfer approach to achieve a lower cost solution for controlling the temperature of a beverage to be dispensed, A cost effective heat transfer approach can be achieved by replacing the cold plate or refrigeration system of prior art beverage dispensers with a slurry ice bath. The invention provides a hopper into which a slurry ice bath is created. The hopper has an access door for receiving ice and an interior valve for dispensing either carbonated water or still water to form a slurry ice bath. Coils containing a beverage to be dispensed are submersed in the slurry ice bath. The slurry ice causes heat to transfer from the coils, thereby maintaining the coils at a certain temperature.

A system and method for dispensing a predetermined portion of a beverage or drink additive using a cost effective portion control valve that replaces electrical components with mechanical components. The present invention dispenses a controlled portion of a beverage when a lever is activated. A magnetically coupled linkage system can control the exact amount of fluid dispensed. A valve block contains a beverage input, a beverage outlet, and a valve seal.
Abstract:
A beverage dispensing apparatus is characterized by a beverage dispenser and a refrigeration system for chilling beverage to be dispensed by the beverage dispenser. The refrigeration system has a compressor coupled to an evaporator for chilling the beverage, and a controller determines the amount of chilling that must be provided by the refrigeration system to chill the beverage and adjusts cut-in and cut-out beverage temperature set-points for the compressor accordingly. Advantageously, the cut-in and cut-out set-points are adjusted to beverage temperature values such that the chilling capacity of the refrigeration system is made to closely match to the amount of chilling required by the beverage, and also such that on/ off cycles of the refrigeration system are decreased.
