摘要: Sustainable paper-based packaging materials, e.g., paper-based food packaging materials, are described. The packaging materials are based on paper formed from fiber derived from waste biomass, such as hemp hurds, mixes containing hemp hurds and hemp bast fibers, bagasse, and cocoa pod husks. Also described are methods of making the packaging materials. The methods can include environmentally friendly pulping and/or bleaching processes.

摘要: A therapeutic hydrogel material is disclosed for the delivery of CAR-T cells that allows their distribution in the tumor resection recess, cavity, or void in combination with platelets decorated with the anti-programmed death-ligand 1 (PDL1) blocking antibody (aPDL1). The delivered hydrogel material acts as a reservoir for both CAR-T cells and platelet-bound aPDL1. Furthermore, inflammation occurring during the surgical wound healing triggers the release of platelet-derived microparticles containing the aPDL1. Cells delivered by the engineered hydrogel show significant control of local and distant tumor recurrence without causing toxic effects. In some embodiments, nanoparticles containing cytokines are also loaded in the therapeutic hydrogel material to maintain the activity and proliferation ability of CAR-T cells.

摘要: A bioorthogonal catalytic patch integrates TiO2 nanosheets populated with metallic nanoparticles into polyvinyl alcohol-based microneedles arranged in an array. This bioorthogonal patch-based device is robust, removable and can effectively mediate the conversion of caged substrates into their active states once placed at the site of application. The capacity of the patch in executing bioorthogonal catalysis in high-level living systems was demonstrated by localized dealkylation of a caged doxorubicin prodrug at the melanoma tumor site and restoration of its pharmacological properties for cancer therapy. This in situ applied patch facilitated to enhance the local treatment efficacy and eliminate off-targeted prodrug activation or dose-dependent side effect towards healthy organs or tissues located away from the application site.

摘要: In one aspect, the disclosure relates to a compact membrane reactor for parahydrogeninduced hyperpolarization, the reactor including an inner tube constructed of a semipermeable membrane, an outer tube surrounding the inner tube, and a means for controlling the magnetic field surrounding the outer tube. In some aspects, multiple compact membrane reactors can be arranged in parallel. In other aspects, the compact membrane reactor is equipped with a mechanism for magnetic field control. Also disclosed are fluid handling systems and sample preparation systems comprising the compact membrane reactors disclosed herein. The compact membrane reactor can be operated in a batch mode, a stopped-flow mode, or a continuous flow mode and can be configured to work with existing NMR spectrometers and MRI instruments.
