Abstract:
A user-interface system and method for searching among multiple documents and searching for subsections within individual documents using a single search interface on an input-constrained user device having a screen and a keypad.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a device for delivering and/or recovering an object, such as a patent foramen ovale (PFO) occluder. According to one embodiment of the invention, a device contains an outer sleeve and an inner sheath. The inner sheath has a proximal portion and a distal portion; the distal portion of the inner sheath is disposed inside the lumen of the outer sleeve. The distal portion of the inner sheath can expand radially to facilitate retrieval of an object. The distal portion of the inner sheath has a larger diametrical configuration than the proximal portion of the inner sheath. The distal portion of the inner sheath may be in the shape of a cone or similar shape. The distal portion of the inner sheath further includes slits that form flaps which collapse inward and overlap each other as the distal portion is in its unexpanded configuration.
Abstract:
The present invention provides integrated bunker storage systems for waste streams based on the composition and characteristics of waste streams. In particular, the present invention provides a process for generating individual waste streams based on a set of material characteristics. According to the system and method of the present invention, individual waste streams from wastes stored in bunkers are mixed in a given feed ratio to generate a feed stock that will produce a desired output from a chemical conversion process, e.g., gasification. Optionally, composition data regarding the feed stock can be certified to a third party.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for text disambiguation and context designation in incremental search are provided. A method for selecting items in response to ambiguous keystrokes entered by a user and unambiguous metadata associated with a previously selected search result includes receiving ambiguous keystrokes, selecting and presenting a first subset of items and metadata associated with the items presented based on the ambiguous keystrokes. The method also includes receiving a selection of one of the items from the user, and, in response to a locking operation received from the user, locking in fixed relation at least one of the ambiguous keystrokes to at least one metadata term associated with the selected item. The method further includes, subsequent to receiving the locking operation, selecting and presenting a second subset of items based at least in part on the locked metadata term, and presenting the second subset of items.
Abstract:
A percutaneous delivery system with a high degree of flexibility is provided. In one embodiment, the system includes a catheter having a portion comprising multiple segments, linked in series by at least one connecting wire. Joints between the multiple segments provide a high degree of flexibility. In some embodiments, only a distal portion is made up of segments. In other embodiments, the whole length of the catheter is made up of segments. Manipulation of the at least one connecting wire enables manipulation of the segments to flex a portion of the catheter. In one aspect, the invention provides a delivery system that reduces the impact of the delivery system on the final release position of the implant delivered. The delivery system can be used to deploy and/or retrieve implantable medical devices, for example, patent foramen ovale (PFO) occluder.
Abstract:
In one aspect, the present invention provides a device for occluding an aperture in a body, for example, a patent foramen ovale (PFO), including a first side adapted to be disposed on one side of the septum and a second side adapted to be disposed on the opposite side of the septum. The device has an elongated, low-profile delivery configuration and a shortened, radially expanded deployment configuration. The first and second sides are adapted to occlude the aperture upon deployment of the device at its intended delivery location. The device also includes a radially expandable center portion. In some embodiments, the center portion includes a plurality of ribs provided by slits in device. The ribs expand radially when the device is deployed. The expandable center portion facilitates the positioning of the device in the aperture. The device can be secured in the deployed configuration using a catch system.
Abstract:
Methods of estimating the speed and/or bearing of a WLAN-enabled device are provided. A method of estimating a bearing of a WLAN-enabled device includes receiving signals transmitted by an access point, including a first message and a second message. The method further includes determining an actual time of arrival value of the second message and determining a time difference of arrival value for the second message based on the actual time of arrival of the second message and an expected time of arrival of the second message, which is based on an actual arrival time of the first message. Estimating the bearing of the device is based on the estimated speed and location of the device, the time difference of arrival value, and the location of the access point. Estimating the speed of the device is based on the time difference of arrival value.
Abstract:
A user-interface method and system for displaying a set of search results on a user device having a limited display area and having a five-button interface, where a user may explicitly or implicitly choose a search result to be expanded in order to provide space for displaying additional metacontent related to the selected search result, and where the expansion of the chosen search result does not occlude information displayed about other search results.
