Abstract:
The hand washing assembly includes a hood defining a cavity within the hood, a valve structure located at least partially within the cavity, and a lever handle. The lever handle is operatively coupled to the valve structure and configured to move the valve structure between a first position in which the valve structure prevents a flow of fluid through the valve structure and a second position in which the valve structure permits the flow of fluid through the valve structure. The lever handle includes a contact surface positioned within the cavity and configured to move toward a top wall of the hood as the valve structure moves into the second position and configured to move away from the top wall as the valve structure moves into the first position.
Abstract:
A LIDAR system includes a laser source, a first scanner, and a second scanner. The first scanner receives a first beam from the laser source and applies a first angle modulation to the first beam to output a second beam at a first angle. The second scanner receives the second beam and applies a second angle modulation to the second beam to output a third beam at a second angle.
Abstract:
A toilet includes a bowl with a sump and a trapway connecting the sump to an outlet of the toilet. The trapway has a zeta shape and is configured to induce a siphon which provides pressure to suction waste water from the bowl during a flush cycle. A trapway supply conduit is connected to the trapway in a tangential orientation to an upleg region of the trapway. The trapway supply conduit supplies water to the trapway, which follows a contour of the inner surface of the trapway supply conduit and continues in the same direction into the upleg region of the trapway by relying on a fluid flow to follow the curve of a convex surface placed proximate to the flow.
Abstract:
An illustrative method for managing a supply chain is performed by a supply chain management server. The method comprises receiving information related to operations of a first supplier. The first supplier is responsible for providing a first product that satisfies criteria of a buyer. The method further includes determining a risk value that indicates a risk level of disruption of the operations of the first supplier and flagging the first supplier within a database of potential suppliers in response to determining that the determined risk value is greater than a risk tolerance threshold. The method also comprises notifying the buyer that the first supplier has been flagged and providing a list of recommended suppliers to the buyer. The recommended suppliers are each capable of providing a respective second product to the buyer. Each of the respective second products satisfies the criteria of the buyer.
Abstract:
A lightweight drive axle includes an elongate, tubular body having a first longitudinal end configured for coupling to a side gear in a differential and a second longitudinal end configured to support a vehicle wheel. The shaft further includes a screw disposed at the first longitudinal end of the body. The screw comprises a shank configured to be received within a bore in the body and a head having first and second portions. The first portion is disposed at one longitudinal end of the screw, has a first diameter and is spaced from the first longitudinal end of the body. The second portion is disposed between the first portion and the shank and has a second diameter less than the first diameter such that the first longitudinal end of the body and the first and second portions of the head define a groove configured to receive a shaft retainer.
Abstract:
A classifier for separating fine and coarse particles including a housing extending along a longitudinal axis between opposing first and second ends, a body disposed within the housing that defines a chamber therebetween, a vane assembly including a plurality of blades aligned at a pitch angle relative to an entrance end, and an outlet. The housing includes a lower portion at the first end and including an inlet, an upper portion at the second end and including a reclaim outlet, and an intermediate portion provided between the upper and lower portions.
Abstract:
A control system for an energy storage device is coupled to sensors on an electrical grid. The control system is configured to receive a measurement from each of the sensors. The control system determines, based on the received measurements, whether a grid event is a local event or a distributed event. The control system selects a response mode for controlling the energy storage device based on whether the grid event is determined to be a local event or a distributed event.
Abstract:
A drain control assembly including a receiving member having a bore and a receiving portion for selectively receiving a first actuator or a second actuator. The drain control assembly also includes a moveable member configured to move between a first position and a second position within the bore of the receiving member to cause a cable to open or close a drain valve assembly. The first actuator comprises a first body portion and is configured to move the moveable member in response to linear movement of the first body portion, and the second actuator includes a second body portion and is configured to move the moveable member in response to rotational movement of the second body portion.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a feedthrough includes a sheet having a hole, where the sheet includes a first material that is a ceramic comprising alumina. The feedthrough further includes a second material substantially filling the hole. The second material is different than the first material and includes platinum and an additive that includes alumina. The first and second materials have a co-fired bond therebetween that hermetically seals the hole. According to another embodiment, a hermetic feedthrough for an implantable medical device includes a sheet having a hole, where the sheet includes a ceramic comprising alumina. The feedthrough also includes a second material substantially filling the hole, where the second material includes a platinum powder mixture and an alumina additive. The platinum powder mixture includes a first platinum powder having a median particle size of between approximately 3 and 10 micrometers and a second platinum powder that is coarser than the first platinum powder and has a median particle size of between approximately 5 and 20 micrometers. The platinum powder mixture includes between approximately 50 and 80 percent by weight of the first platinum powder and between approximately 20 and 50 percent by weight of the second platinum powder. The first and second materials have a co-fired bond therebetween that hermetically seals the hole.
Abstract:
A method of interconnecting a conductor (1512) and a hermetic feedthrough (1514) of an implantable medical device includes welding a lead to a pad (1520) on a feedthrough. The feedthrough includes a ceramic insulator (1522) and a via hermetically bonded to the insula¬ tor. The via includes platinum. The pad is bonded to the insulator and electrically connected to the via, includes platinum, and has a thick¬ ness of at least 50 μιη. The lead includes at least one of niobium, plat¬ inum, titanium, tantalum, palladium, gold, nickel, tungsten, and ox¬ ides and alloys thereof.
