Abstract:
This disclosure describes a head-mounted display with a display assembly configured to display content to most or all of a user's field of view. The display assembly can be configured to display content in far-peripheral regions of the user's field of view differently than content upon which a user can focus. For example, spatial resolution, color resolution, refresh rate and intensity (i.e. brightness) can be adjusted to save resources and/or to bring attention to virtual content positioned within a far-peripheral region. In some embodiments, these changes can save processing resources without detracting from the user's overall experience.
Abstract:
One embodiment can provide a photovoltaic roof tile module. The photovoltaic roof tile module can include a front encapsulant layer and a back encapsulant layer where both the front and back encapsulant layers include different pigments. The front encapsulant layer can include a small amount of pigment that absorbs and scatters particular frequencies of visible light to give the photovoltaic roof tile a desired color. The small amount of pigment does not absorb or scatter a significant amount of infrared light. Two or more photovoltaic roof tiles can be combined to form a photovoltaic module. The two or more photovoltaic roof tiles can have different concentrations of pigment in the front encapsulant layer to give the photovoltaic module a small amount of color variation.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes various methods and apparatus for characterizing an additive manufacturing process. A method for characterizing the additive manufacturing process can include generating scans of an energy source across a build plane; measuring an amount of energy radiated from the build plane during each of the scans using an optical sensing system that monitors two discrete wavelengths associated with a blackbody radiation curve of the layer of powder; determining temperature variations for an area of the build plane traversed by the scans based upon a ratio of sensor readings taken at the two discrete wavelengths; determining that the temperature variations are outside a threshold range of values; and thereafter, adjusting subsequent scans of the energy source across or proximate the area of the build plane.

Abstract:
An optical manufacturing process sensing and status indication system is taught that is able to utilize optical emissions from a manufacturing process to infer the state of the process. In one case, it is able to use these optical emissions to distinguish thermal phenomena on two timescales and to perform feature extraction and classification so that nominal process conditions may be uniquely distinguished from off-nominal process conditions at a given instant in time or over a sequential series of instants in time occurring over the duration of the manufacturing process. In other case, it is able to utilize these optical emissions to derive corresponding spectra and identify features within those spectra so that nominal process conditions may be uniquely distinguished from off-nominal process conditions at a given instant in time or over a sequential series of instants in time occurring over the duration of the manufacturing process.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for screening sample preparation conditions and, more specifically, high throughput screening of tissue sample preparation conditions.

Abstract:
A time of flight based depth detection system is disclosed that includes a projector configured to sequentially emit multiple complementary illumination patterns. A sensor of the depth detection system is configured to capture the light from the illumination patterns reflecting off objects within the sensor's field of view. The data captured by the sensor can be used to filter out erroneous readings caused by light reflecting off multiple surfaces prior to returning to the sensor.
