Abstract: Displacement of a moving diaphragm in an electroacoustic transducer is measured by modulating an electrical signal based on changes in capacitance between the voice coil assembly and the magnetic structure resulting from relative motion between the voice coil and the magnetic structure. Abstract: An ANR circuit employs first, second and third buffers to buffer ANR settings in preparation for configuring one or more components of the ANR circuit during operation and in synchronization with the transfer of at least one piece of digital data within the ANR circuit. The first and second buffers are alternately used to carry out such configuring, while the third buffer stores a "failsafe" ANR settings to be automatically used in configuring the one or more components of the ANR circuit in response to an indication of instability in the provision feedback-based ANR, feedforward-based ANR and/or pass-through audio being detected. Apparatus and method of an ANR circuit of compressing both feedforward and feedback reference sounds detected by feedforward and feedback microphones, respectively, in response to the acoustic energy of the feedforward reference noise sound reaching a predetermined level. Apparatus and method of controlling provision of ANR, possibly of a personal ANR device, in which amplitudes of a piece of audio employed in the provision of ANR are monitored, and the compression of one or both of feedback and feedforward ANR reference sounds is made dependent on frequency such that a first sound of one frequency need only reach a lower amplitude to trigger compression, while a second sound of another frequency must reach a higher amplitude to trigger compression. Apparatus and method of reducing the provision of ANR at an one end of a range of frequencies at which the ANR is provided without reducing the provision of the ANR at the other end of the range of frequencies by repeatedly reconfiguring coefficients of one or more digital filters to reduce the provision of ANR at the one end in increments at a first recurring interval, and then later reversing the reduction in the provision of the ANR at the one end by repeatedly reconfiguring coefficients of the one or more digital filters in increments at a second recurring interval. Apparatus and method of an ANR circuit detecting instances of instability in at least the provision of feedback-based ANR, monitoring audio that includes feedback anti-noise sounds for acoustic output by an acoustic driver for a sound having characteristics indicative of instability including at least a frequency within a range of frequencies and an amplitude reaching at least a predetermined minimum amplitude, and perhaps also a sinusoidal waveform.
