Abstract:
Coaxial cable connectors. In one example embodiment, a coaxial cable connector for terminating a coaxial cable is provided. The coaxial cable includes an inner conductor, an insulating layer, an outer conductor, and a jacket. The coaxial cable connector includes an internal connector structure, an external connector structure, and a conductive pin. The external connector structure cooperates with the internal connector structure to define a cylindrical gap that is configured to receive an increased-diameter cylindrical section of the outer conductor. The external connector structure is configured to be clamped around the increased-diameter cylindrical section so as to radially compress the increased-diameter cylindrical section between the external connector structure and the internal connector structure. The conductive pin is configured to deform the inner conductor.

Abstract:
A hydraulic compression tool for securing a compression type cable connector to a prepared end of a coaxial cable. The tool can include a hydraulic assembly having an axially extendable ram, and a connector frame detachably attached to the hydraulic assembly. The connector frame can include a cable cradle configured to accommodate cables of various sizes and a sleeve for engaging a cable connector. The connector frame can further include a sliding guide structure attached to the cable cradle. The sliding guide structure can include a sliding bar and one or more sliding guides. The sleeve can be attached to the sliding bar. The sleeve can be configured to accommodate connectors of various sizes. Activating the hydraulic assembly can cause the ram to extend, which in turn can cause the sliding bar to move along the longitudinal axis of the cable connector compressing the compression member and connector body into operative engagement with the cable.

Coaxial cable connectors with a strain relief clamp. In one example embodiment, a coaxial cable connector for terminating a coaxial cable is provided. The coaxial cable includes an inner conductor, an insulating layer surrounding the inner conductor, an outer conductor surrounding the insulating layer, and a jacket surrounding the outer conductor. The coaxial cable connector includes an inner conductor clamp configured to engage the inner conductor, an outer conductor clamp configured to engage the outer conductor, a strain relief clamp configured to exert a first inwardly-directed radial force against the coaxial cable, and a moisture seal configured to exert a second inwardly-directed radial force against the jacket. The first force is greater than the second force.
Abstract:
A coaxial cable compression connector includes a connector body having opposing first and second ends and a defined center passageway, an insulator disposed within the center passageway adjacent the first end of said connector body, and a compression sleeve movably connected to the second end of said connector body. In one version, the outer conductor of a prepared coaxial cable end and the center conductor are sequentially seized based on axial movement of the compression sleeve upon insertion of a prepared coaxial cable. The compression sleeve when axially moved from the second end to the first end sequentially enables a clamp to engage and seize each of the outer and center conductors. In another version, movement of the compression sleeve causes engagement of the center conductor of an engaged coaxial cable by a plurality of seizing elements disposed in relation to a conductive member into which the center conductor is advanced a predetermined distance.

Abstract:
The invention provides a connector for coax cable with a snap bearing providing the interface between the inner body and the outer body. A concave surface below the snap bearing, which is retained by a pair of shoulders, allows the snap bearing to elastically deform during assembly of the connector to thereby reduce the risk of plastic deformation of the components while allowing significant improvements in overlap at the interface of the components.

Coaxial cable preparation tools. In one example embodiment, a coaxial cable preparation tool is configured for use in preparing a coaxial cable for termination. The coaxial cable includes an inner conductor, an insulating layer surrounding the inner conductor, and an outer conductor surrounding the insulating layer. The tool includes a body. The body includes an insertion portion configured to be inserted between the outer conductor and inner conductor where a section of the insulating layer has been cored out. The body also includes an opening defined in the insertion portion and configured to receive the inner conductor. The body further includes means for increasing the diameter of the outer conductor that surrounds the cored-out section.
