More particularly, the present invention relates to the photoactive crosslinker compound having a novel structure, to the method for preparing same, to the liquid crystal aligning agent, to the liquid crystal aligning film, and to the liquid crystal display device. According to the present invention, the liquid crystal aligning agent has high vertical alignment performance, good storage stability, superior transparency, and excellent liquid crystal aligning properties, printability, and electrical characteristics. Further, the stability of a pretilt angle and strength of the film can be improved, and a pretilt of a liquid crystal can be formed by UV exposure alone.

The present invention relates to a polymerizable liquid crystal composition, and more specifically, to a polymerizable liquid crystal composition which exhibits thermal stability and has a wide temperature range of a liquid crystal phase region if used in an optical film and is effective with respect to costs. The present invention is a polymerizable liquid crystal composition formed by mixing a polymerizable mesogenic compound with a liquid crystal compound in which a core structure does not have a connecting group and the liquid crystal compound has one or more cyclic structures connected by a single bond or a polycyclic structure, thereby showing excellent compatibility between liquid crystal materials and chemical stability, and maintaining a liquid crystal phase over a wide temperature range. In addition, it is possible to manufacture an optical film having excellent alignment and chemical resistance when using the polymerizable liquid crystal composition in a liquid crystal optical film. According to the present invention, the dielectric anisotropy of both mesogenic groups of a bimesogenic compound can be controlled so as to obtain a bimesogenic compound which is ideal for a related mode. When a bimesogenic compound is designed such that both mesogenic groups have different signs of dielectric anisotropy by increasing the revolving speed of liquid crystal molecules, not only can the response time of liquid crystal be increased, but the viewing angle can also be widened.

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a patterned phase retardation film, and more particularly, to a method which involves printing different types of aligning agents such that the aligning agents can be crossed with each other so as to have a predetermined gap therebetween, so as to thereby manufacture a patterned phase retardation film using only a single alignment process. The present invention also relates to a patterned phase retardation film manufactured by the method. The method for manufacturing the patterned phase retardation film according to the present invention may enable the formation of different types of aligning agents, having different aligning properties, on a substrate by means of a printing technique, such that the aligning agents can be crossed with each other so as to have a predetermined gap therebetween. Thus, a pattern having significantly improved linearity as compared to those patterns produced through processes using an existing mask can be obtained to enable the manufacture of an elaborate phase retardation film. Furthermore, a patterned phase retardation film can be manufactured using just a single process for forming aligning properties, thus reducing the number of manufacturing processes to half that of conventional techniques, and providing excellent effects in terms of the simplification of processes and the resulting reduction in costs.

The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a patterned phase delay film, and more particularly, to a method of manufacturing a patterned phase delay film in which light curable monomer composition layers are formed at a predetermined distance and cured to form a patterned phase delay film, and a patterned phase delay film manufactured by the above-described method. According to the present invention, a board already capable of performing phase delay is utilized, and light curable monomer composition layers are formed at a predetermined distance and cured. Thus, a process for forming an orientation material layer and an orientation to the orientation material layer may be performed only once to form a patterned orientation. Thus, the number of manufacturing processes may be significantly reduced. As a result, manufacturing costs may be reduced. Thus, a phase delay film on which a more precise pattern is formed may be manufactured. Also, when directly rubbing on the board having the phase delay function to form the orientation, it may be unnecessary to form the orientation material layer. Thus, the number of manufacturing processes may be further reduced, and also, a height difference between the light curable monomer composition layer and the board may be reduced.

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a phase retardation film, and more particularly, to a method for manufacturing a phase retardation film in which a polymer liquid crystal composition is oriented using electrical fields or magnetic fields, without forming an alignment layer, so as to manufacture the phase retardation film through a simple process. According to the method for manufacturing the phase retardation film of the present invention, since the polymer liquid crystal composition is oriented using the electrical fields or magnetic fields, a process of forming an alignment material layer is not used and a process of rubbing or optically aligning the alignment material layer may be eliminated, and thus the present invention exhibits the advantages of the manufacturing process being very quickly performed and a process line being more simply constructed to reduce manufacturing costs. Further, while conventionally the number of alignment processes is increased whenever a pattern is added, in the method for manufacturing a phase retardation film of the present invention, only the structure of the electrode need be differently set to form patterns having different shapes, and thus the present invention exhibits the advantage of an additional processes not being required.
