A docking station for portable multimedia players and where the docking station includes both audio and video reproduction capabilities but where the video reproduction facility includes an optical projection system to display the digital content on a surface. The docking station also includes stand-alone audio video generation and a clock function as options. The docking station may include a second projection means to project a different image such as that received by the television receivers or captured by a camera that can also be part of the docking station.

A laser optical engine for reducing laser speckle. The engine comprises in series a green laser adapted to emit a beam of light through a prism, first lenslet array, a beam expander, a first and then a second dichroic mirror, a second lenslet array, a lens, a polarising beam splitter, a LCOS panel and a projection lens. When using the optical engine to project the image as displayed in the LCOS panel three lasers are used being in the green, blue and red parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. The blue and red lasers do not pass through the beam expander but rather are introduced into the optical engine by reflection through their respective dichroic mirrors.

9 ABSTRACT A power generating apparatus for fluid flow conduits where the apparatus includes an impeller positioned in the path of the fluid flow. The impeller is either directly or magnetically coupled to an electric generator outside of the fluid flow conduit. As the fluid flows it causes the impeller to rotate thus causing the electrical generator to turn 5 and thereby produce electricity. This can then be used to power various devices or to trickle charge batteries. The present invention relates to an image projection device having a linear array of LED's in a common substrate, a common lens group to collimate light from each LED, and a single dichroic wedge having dichroic coatings for reflecting each light source to a condensing means which condenses the light to a distal surface. The present invention relates to an optical engine for a projection system and in particular for a miniaturised device in which a projected image is provided by the use of white or coloured light sources, a light collection system, a light shaping system, a polarisation recycling system, a polarising plate beam splitter, an LCoS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon) panel and an image projection system. The projection optics may also incorporate a cylindrical surface to compensate for aberrations caused by the plate beam splitter. The recycling system ensures the efficiency of the engine wherein light that does not pass through the pre-polariser is reflected back along the optical path to the light source where it is absorbed and re-emitted. This is achieved by having a symmetrical lenslet array that is closely coupled to the prepolariser.

An optical engine apparatus for the production of an image using an LCoS. A light source emits light that passes through a lenslet array and then a pre-polariser that polarises the light so that it can pass through a beamsplitter, the light then passing though a quarter-wave retarder and to a concave mirror that reflects the light back through the retarder adapted to change the direction of polarisation of the light so that it is reflected from the beamsplitter and onto the LCoS where it is reflected so that the reflected light from the LCoS passes through the beamsplitter and then projection lenses to be displayed as an image on a surface.
