Abstract: An adjustable mask system (100) includes a cushion with a seal (130) having the ability to change size and/or shape. The seal is preferably a one-piece, continuous member without interruptions. Abstract: A mask assembly (2) for use in providing a supply of air at positive pressure to the airways of a patient includes a frame (4) and an elbow (6). The elbow (6) is rotatable with respect to the frame (4) when assembled. The frame (4) includes an elbow-receiving portion (20). The elbow (6) and elbow-receiving portion (20) of the frame (4) are adapted to include respective interlocking sealing portions (34, 38) and one of the elbow (6) and elbow-receiving portion (20) includes a flexible element that upon assembly flexes to introduce a preload that effects a seal between the respective interlocking sealing portions (34, 38).
