Abstract: A mask system for use between a patient and a structure to deliver a breathable gas to the patient includes a mask assembly (50) including a frame (52), a cushion (54) provided to the frame (52), and optionally an elbow (56) provided to the frame (52). Headgear (10) is removably attached to the mask assembly (50) to maintain the mask assembly (50) in a desired position on a patient's face. The headgear (10) includes a back headgear section (20) providing a top strap (22), a pair of side straps (30, 32) attached to the back headgear section (20), and an elastic strap (40) attached between the back headgear section (20) and the pair of side straps (30, 32).
