Abstract:
A torsional frequency adjustor for a rotating body, the torsional frequency adjuster comprising:a first ring (110) having a first engagement surface (111) parallel to an outer surface of the rotating body, the first engagement surface having a total arcuate length that is smaller than a circumference of the outer surface (12) of the rotating body (10), the first ring further having a first wedge surface (112) inclined at a first angle with respect to the first engagement surface (111); a second ring (120) having a second wedge surface (122) corresponding to and selectively engaging the first wedge surface (112), a total arcuate length of the second wedge surface (122) being smaller than a total arcuate length of the first wedge surface (112) at each corresponding point along a shared longitudinal axis of the first and second rings; and an inducer (130) that selectively draws the first wedge surface (112) into engagement with the second wedge surface (122), thereby inducing an interference fit of the first engagement surface (111) with the outer surface (12) of the rotating body (10).
Abstract:
An electrolysis device is disclosed for producing alkaline water from water including an electrolysis vessel, a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a bipolar membrane element, and at least one cation exchangeable membrane within the electrolysis vessel. The bipolar membrane element has a cation exchangeable side and an anion exchangeable side, the cation exchangeable side being closer to the negative electrode than the anion exchangeable side. The at least one cation exchangeable membrane is arranged between the anion exchangeable side of the bipolar membrane element and the positive electrode, so as to define an alkali chamber between the bipolar membrane element and the cation exchangeable membrane. An ionic exchange resin is associated with the vessel, whereby flow of the water though the vessel and the ionic exchange resin produces alkaline water in the alkali chamber. Various options and modifications are possible. A related washing machine such as a dishwasher is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Compositions made from a polyarylate or polyester carbonate containing greater than about 50 mole % resorcinol based ester linkages give miscible blends with polyimide resins, addition of alkyl amide compounds improves mold release and melt flow while maintaining transparency. The blends also have high refractive index and low haze.
Abstract:
An ignition resistant thermoplastic composition comprising: (a) structural units derived at least one substituted or unsubstituted polycarbonate; (b) a polyester comprising structural units is derived from xylene glycol; (c) 1 weight percent to about 40 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition of a flame retardant compound is disclosed. Also disclosed is a method of making said thermoplastic compositions and articles derived from said composition.
Abstract:
A system and process for making non-continuous articles with patterned microstructures. The articles are of high quality and may be used in flat panel display applications. The system and process use a casting roll with a pattern on the surface of the casting roll for patterning a non-continuous microstructure on a surface of the substrate, and a coating device that is adapted to apply a coating to the surface of the substrate in a non-continuous manner so that areas of the substrate that are coated by the coating device correspond to the casting roll pattern.
Abstract:
A polycarbonate composition comprises chloride, sulfate, phosphate or a combination of two or more of the foregoing ionic species in an amount of zero to about 100 parts per billion based on the total weight of the composition; and phenol, carbonic diester, aromatic dihydroxy compound or combination of two or more of the foregoing organic compounds in an amount of zero to about 500 parts per million by weight based on the total weight of the composition; wherein the polycarbonate has a weight average molecular weight of about 40,000 to about 90,000 dalton as determined by gel permeation chromatography using polystyrene standards and a melt volume rate of about 1 to about 35cm 3 /10 minutes when measured at about 300°C with a force of about 1.2 kilograms.
Abstract:
Articles having an exterior surface comprising an inorganic biocidal agent and a first thermoplastic resin can provide a good combination of biocidal activity and physical properties. The biocidal activity may be enhanced by thermoforming an article or multi-layered article into a shaped article having the desired level of biocidal activity.
