摘要: The pincers (22) of the machine are mounted each for limited pivotal movement about an axis (A) spaced from the edge of the last in such a manner that the pincers move from a loading position, spaced outwardly of a shoe supported by the shoe support (20) and above the plane of the wipers (28), inwardly and downwardly to a position in which they lie beneath the insole (I) of such shoe. During this movement, which is powered (60), a slipping grip is applied by the pincer jaws (66, 68) to the lasting marginal portions of the upper (U). Thereafter full pressure is applied to the pincer jaws, and the upper is first tensioned by relative heightwise movement between the shoe support (20) and the pincers (22) and then in-wiped by the wiper assembly (28), the grip of the upper by the pincers (22) being released in a desired sequence and in timed relation with the in-wiping movement of the wipers.

摘要: For accomodating shoes of a given style but of different sizes, especially shoes having a significant bottom curvature, the operative position of the last support (10) can be varied according to the size of the shoe as well as according to style. To this end, a "style" heightwise setting of the last support (10) is modified by a subsequent "size" setting, which is carried out in response to the measurement of the last length when the heel rest (26) is moved into engagement with the back seam region thereof. To facilitate these two settings, preferably a double-cylinder arrangement (66, 68, 68a; 76, 78) is provided for effecting heightwise movement of the last support (10). The setting of the last support (10) is especially suited for electronic control, using n.c. motors for varying the position of the various stop members (72, 80, 90).

摘要: In a pulling over and lasting machine a heel rest arrangement (26) is provided, comprising a position-detecting device (linear potentiometer (52)) by which the actual position of the heel-engaging member (heel block (32)) can be monitored, comparator means being provided for comparing the value of the output of such device with a pre-set further value, representative of the desired heightwise position of the heel block (32). In response to a discrepancy arising between the two values, either a display (30) may indicate the discrepancy, in response to which the operator corrects the discrepancy, or powered means may be provided for automatically moving the heel block (32) to a corrected position. In another version, furthermore, locking means is provided which is released upon a discrepancy arising, allowing the operator to adjust the heightwise position of the heel block (32), whereafter the locking means (50) is automatically reapplied. The control is so organised that a cycle of operation cannot be initiated until no discrepancy is sensed.

摘要: In a hydraulically operated pulling over and toe lasting machine both the operative position of the heel support (26), i.e. in which it holds the shoe by engagement with its heel end, and the position from which it initially moves to engage the shoe (the "next start" position) are controlled by electronic circuitry. Thus, an inductance switch (118) is actuated when the heel pad (100) engages the heel end of the shoe, said switch causing the supply of fluid to be shut off and locking the heel support in its operative position. For setting the "next start" position, on the other hand, selector switches (122, 124) are provided each of which has an associated timer (T1, T2). At the end of a lasting cycle the heel support (26) is first fully retracted and then moves to its "next start" position under the control of the timer associated with the selected switch.
