Abstract: An auto purge for an intravenous contrast injector (20) of the type having a motor which advances a plunger drive ram and configured for use with a pre-filled or user-filled syringe containing an approximate known amount of air including a processor which causes the motor to move and a memory storing a predetermined purge stop point representative of the approximate known amount of air in the syringe, the injector configured to automatically advance the plunger drive ram an amount substantially equal to the predetermined purge stop point representative of the approximate known amount of air contained in the syringe.

Abstract: An auto purge protocol (380) is disclosed, and which may be used by power injector contra! logic (350) of a power injector (320). The protocol (380) may only require a single input by an operator to complete. The protocol (380) causes the injector (320) to extend a plunger (326) of a syringe (324) to a first position. Thereafter and without any operator interaction, the injector (320) is caused by the protocol (380) to extend a plunger (330) of another syringe (328) to a second position. A tubing set (332) may be fluidty interconnected with these syringes (324, 328) during the execution of this auto purge protocol (380).

Abstract: Certain embodiments of the invention relate to a radiopharmaceutical system having a shielded cordless injector and various radiopharmaceutical pig and syringe structures that permit the syringe to remain in the pig during transportation and use of the syringe. In some embodiments, the shielded cordless injector may include an injector, a radiation shield disposed at least partially about the injector, a drive coupled to the injector, and an energy storage device coupled to the drive. The pig may have a computer with a display screen that displays a radioactivity level of a radiopharmaceutical and/or a desired (e.g., correct) unit dose volume of a radiopharmaceutical to be administered to a patient.
