Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for cleaning apparatus used during the production of foodstuffs, in particular the filtration thereof, wherein this apparatus is contacted after use with a cleaning system based on the combination of a cyclic nitroxyl compound and a hypohalite.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for manufacture of duckbill valves (1) in which the opposed lips of the valve (1) are split by applying a high fluid pressure inside the valve (1). This pressure causes the valve to balloon and burst. Preferably, the valve (1) is supported over all of its outer surface except the end (6) to be split by a die (5, 10). The system is particularly suited to duckbill valves made of thermoplastic elastomer.
Abstract:
The invention provides pectins as new foam stabilizers for (temporary) foam heads in beverages, in particular in beers, especially beers of the pilsner type. These foam stabilizers are preferably obtained from hops, which is a constituent that is inherent in beer and accordingly offers the advantage, among others, that the foam stabilizers need to have no negative effect on the taste of the beer. Preferably, the pectins are obtained from hop cones or bines. It may be advantageous to partially saponify (de-esterify) the pectins, in connection with the number of charged groups on the pectins. In addition, the invention provides methods for obtaining the pectins and beverages stabilized with the pectins according to the invention.
Abstract:
A beverage container (1) for a beverage (3), which allows the beverage (3) to be dispensed to give an appearance similar to that of a beverage dispensed from draught. The container comprises a primary chamber (1) including the beverage (3), a secondary chamber (2, 21) including fluid, and a duckbill valve (4) arranged so that the fluid contained in the secondary chamber (2, 21) is jetted into the beverage (3) in the primary chamber (1) via the duckbill valve (4) upon opening of the container (1).
Abstract:
A carbonated beverage container (10, 35, 40) including a hollow insert (1, 20). The insert (1, 20) has one one-way valve (7, 29, 31, 32) and one orifice (6, 28, 33, 34), one of which is arranged to allow gas from a headspace above beverage (11) to enter the insert (1, 20), and the other is arranged to jet gas from inside the insert (1, 20) into the beverage (11) upon opening the container (10, 35, 40). The gas jetting into the beverage (11) causes nucleation of fine bubbles in the beverage (11) which separate out to form a close-knit creamy head.
