Abstract:
A brake (3) for a shaft (2), such as the output shaft of the motor (41) of a lawnmower(40), comprising a carrier (4) arranged to be fixed to the shaft (2) for rotation therewith; at least one coil spring (7) having coils (8); and a braking surface (5) arranged to be fixed so that theshaft (2) rotates relative to the braking surface (5), each coil spring (7) being mounted in the carrier (4) such that, as a rotational speed at which the carrier (4) is rotated by the shaft (2) increases, the coils (8) of the spring (7) move away from the shaft (2) and the braking surface (5) and, as the rotational speed at which the carrier (4) is rotated by the shaft (2) decreases, the coils (8) of the spring (7) move towards the shaft (2) and the braking surface (5) and come into contact with the braking surface (5) so as to exert a braking force on the shaft (2).
Abstract:
The present disclosure, pertains to resins, fibres, and/or resin/fibre composites. Certain aspects are directed to: the construction, composition and methods for producing resins, resin systems and/or resin blends that are suitable for use in very short fibre polymerisable liquid composites and other composites. Certain aspects are to the treatment of fibres and other types of reinforcement fillers so that they are suitable for use in very short fibre polymerisable liquid composites and other composites. Certain aspects are to methods of use and/or methods for producing very short fibre polymerisable liquid composites that can be produced by combining the aforesaid resins, resin systems and/or resin blends and treated fibres and other types of reinforcement fillers to produce suitable very short fibre polymerisable liquid composites.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to communications, and in particular though not exclusively to forming a secure connection between two untrusted devices. The present invention provides a method of securely connecting a first device (A) to a second device (B) using a third party authentication server (AS) coupled to the second device, the first device and the authentication server both having first device shared secret data (SSDa) and the second device and the authentication server both having second device shared secret data (SSDb). The method comprises receiving a request from the first device at the authentication server; the authentication server and the first device both generating a first device key (K_A) using the first device shared secret data in response to a first device random number (RANDa) sent from the authentication server to the first device; the authentication server and the second device both generating a second device key (K_B) using the second device shared secret data in response to a second device random number (RANDb) sent from the authentication server to the second device; and the authentication server securely forwarding to the second device (B) and the first device (A) a common key (K_AB) using the second and first device keys (K_B, K_A).
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention are concerned with a method of, and apparatus for, identifying types of network behaviour for use in identifying aberrant network behaviour. In particular, embodiments are concerned with identifying email viruses. The method comprises the steps of: collecting data representative of network traffic that has travelled over a network; training a classification means to recognise a plurality of network behaviour types from the collected data; and for unseen data travelling over the network, classifying the unseen data into one of the defined network behaviour types.
Abstract:
The invention provides a process for the production of a compound of formula (A) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof, formula (A), which comprises condensing a compound of formula (B),with a compound of formula (C). Compounds of formula (A) are useful in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing community services to mobile user terminals (14) including routing and translating messages. The service provision is performed by an application/server (10, 16) dependant on group context attributes (11) that may relate to group membership and availability of service features. The context attributes including the service features can be configured by users by sending messages to the application/server and by selecting templates. A cross-network subsystem (18) links instances of the application/server to a plurality of telecommunication networks (19) that route messages to mobile terminals.
Abstract:
A method and system for a first server (4) to authenticate a communications device (2) using further authentication performed by a second server (6); comprising: the first server (4) and the communications device (2) performing an initial authentication using a first identity of the communications device (2); the first server (4) sending a token (T) and a further authentication request to the communications device (2); the communications device (2) forwarding the token (T) and an authentication request to a second server (6) using a second identity without revealing the first identity to the second server (6); and the second server (6) sending the token (T) and a report of further authentication comprising a confidence level associated with said further authentication to the first server (4) without revealing the second identity.
Abstract:
The present invention is concerned with a method of, and apparatus for, detecting the source and movement of emails that are propagated by an email virus. The invention comprises a server configured to send outgoing electronic messages on behalf of terminals connected thereto and to deliver incoming electronic messages to the terminals, each terminal being accessed by one or more users. The server comprises: receiving means arranged to receive data relating to such electronic messages; analysing means arranged to analyse the received data in accordance with a specified criterion, so as to identify those electronic messages that satisfy the criterion; identifying means arranged to identify the destination of the identified electronic messages; processing means arranged to send a message to each of the identified destinations, requesting suspension of delivery of the identified electronic messages. This therefore allows suspect electronic messages (emails) to be identified, and recalled, or quarantined at a destination server, thereby preventing the spread of suspect emails as early as possible. The method also collates and presents email activity as a function of the position, within an organization, of the origin of an email. The email activity can be presented graphically, thus providing an enhanced user interface to email data within a company. In other words, awareness of movement of emails within a company is greatly enhanced. This represents an improvement over the prior art, because it provides a faster way of identifying potential viral damage within, for example, a company intranet.

Abstract:
A hand-held holder for edge tools in which the holder includes a butt-portion (B) shaped for gripping in the hand by the fingers, a tool holder portion (H) at a work angle to the butt-portion (B) together with a thumb pad (T) across the tool holder portion (H) for action by the thumb to exert force along the tool holder through an edge tool (20) held extending from the tool holder portion (H). The tool carrier (1) can include a resilient portion (9), at which the carrier (1) can bend to be engaged with a catch (5) in the holder in the extended position, so long as thumb action is maintained.
