The present invention relates to the novel use of panduratin derivatives or an extract of Boesenbergia pandurata for promoting muscle mass growth, fighting fatigue, and enhancing exercise performance capability. More particularly, the present invention relates to a composition for enhancing exercise performance capability, promoting muscle mass growth, and fighting fatigue, which comprises panduratin derivatives or salts thereof, or an extract of Boesenbergia pandurata, as active ingredients, and which promotes muscle mass growth and recovery from fatigue to improve mobility. The present invention also relates to a method for improving exercise performance capability, promoting muscle mass growth, and fighting fatigue, which involves injecting panduratin derivatives or salts thereof, or an extract of Boesenbergia pandurata, into an individual requiring same. The panduratin derivatives or the extract of Boesenbergia pandurata of the present invention can be used safely with no adverse effects, and increases the expression of PPAR d in the muscles, thus exhibiting excellent effects in promoting muscle mass growth, recovery from fatigue, and an enhancement in exercise performance capability such as an enhancement in mobility.

The present invention relates to a novel use of lignan compounds, which are isolated and purified from nutmeg or the aril of nutmeg for anti-wrinkle, and more particularly, the present invention relates to a novel use for anti-wrinkle of an extract of the nutmeg or an extract of the aril of the nutmeg, fragrin A, austobailignan 7, licarin E, and macelignan. The extracts and lignan compounds of the present invention have activities in suppressing collagen degradation enzyme- 1(MMP-I, matrix metalloprotei-nase-1) and formation of new collagen (type-1 procollagen), thereby having effect on inhibitng wrinkle caused by photoaging. Accordingly, the extracts and lignan compounds of the present invention may be useful for preventing or treating wrinkle caused by photoaging.

The present invention relates to the novel use of lignan compounds represented by Formula I. More particularly, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing a brain disease, comprising a lignan compound represented by Formula I or a Myristica fragrans extract as an active ingredient, as well as the method and use for treating or preventing a brain disease using the lignan compound. The lignan compound represented by Formula I has the effects of antioxidation, brain cell protection and antiinflammation. Accordingly, said lignan compound will be highly useful for treating or preventing a brain disease.

Disclosed is composition for enhancing oral health, which includes 0.0001~10 wt % of Xanthorrhizol on the basis of the total weight of the composition, and 0.01~10 wt % of at least one antibacterial activity enhancer selected form the group consisting of alkyl sodium sulfate, sodium lauroyl sarcocinate and sodium methylcocoyltaurate. The antibacterial activity enhancer contained in the composition more effectively enhances antibacterial activity of Xanthorrhizol against causative bacterial of a decayed tooth or a peridental disease existing in the mouth, so the composition is very helpful for enhancing the oral health, for example the prevention or relief of a decayed tooth or a peridental disease or the restraint of foul breath.

The present invention relates to a novel use of a flavone-based compound or Kaempferia parviflora extract, and more particularly, to a composition for anti-wrinkle, anti-aging and improvement of skin elasticity, comprising a flavone-based compound or Kaempferia parviflora extract, as an active ingredient. The composition of the present invention has superior effects of inhibiting collagenases and promoting collagen production, and therefore, may be effective in preventing skin wrinkles and aging and improving skin elasticity, and has superior effects of inhibiting loss of skin moisture and thus is effective in skin moisturizing.

The present invention provides a method for manufacturing polysaccharides isolated from Curcuma xanthorrhiza , including steps of: (S1) preparing a powder of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb .; (S2) extracting the powder with an organic solvent, and then filtering or centrifuging to obtain a residue; (S3) extracting the residue to prepare a solution containing polysaccharides; (S4) removing starch by adding starch-hydrolyzing enzyme to the polysaccharides-containing solution; (S5) precipitating the polysaccharides after the step (S4); and (S6) purifying the polysaccharides after the step (S5), polysaccharides obtained according to the manufacturing method, and a pharmaceutical composition in eluding the polysaccharides as effective component. The polysaccharides according to the present invention may be very effectively used in drugs and functional foods for stimulating macrophage activity, preventing and treating immunological diseases including cancer, and enhancing immunity after the treatment of the immunological diseases.
