Abstract: A gasket device (1) for a pipe joint between two pipe ends (9), the device (1) comprising: a gasket (5) for providing a seal between the two pipe ends (9), and a support structure for receiving the gasket (5), wherein the support structure is shaped to engage a pipe end (9) to locate the gasket (5) and acts as a stop to protect the gasket (5) during closing of the pipe joint. By providing a rigid support structure, preferably made of engineering plastics material, together with a soft material (elastomeric) gasket, accurate alignment and location of the gasket can be achieved. Simplified installation of a pipe joint can therefore be effected.
