Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a spiral-wound PTFE gasket includes winding a laminated PTFE tape (300) around a shaft (305) that has an outer diameter that coincides with the gasket inner diameter to create a PTFE cylinder (315) having an outer diameter that coincides with the gasket outer diameter; sintering the PTFE cylinder (315); and removing a radial segment of the PTFE cylinder (315) to form the gasket (100), the radial segment having a thickness that coincides with the gasket thickness.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Provided is a first seal member (302) that comprises a body (304) that defines an aperture (312) having a perimeter (400) that extends along an axis in a first direction from the body. The first seal member also includes a first sealing feature (412) that is immediately adjacent at least a portion of the perimeter of the aperture that extends along a path in a second direction that is oblique to the first direction along which the aperture extends. In certain embodiments, a second seal member (314) may also be provided that comprises a body (316) that includes a perimeter (320) wherein said perimeter of said aperture of the first seal member is complimentary shaped for receiving the perimeter of the second seal member.
Abstract:
A flow directing gasket for improving the flow of a gas or liquid across electron beam transparent membranes in environmental cells within a sample holder of an electron microscope, and uses of the sample holders comprising said flow directing gaskets.
Abstract:
A seal arrangement includes a body having at least two walls defining a cavity, the walls are engagable with at least one structure through expansion of the body, and graphite is sealingly engaged with the body and the structure and resiliently compressively maintained within the cavity by the at least one structure.
Abstract:
A gasket is provided with two dissimilar materials (42, 44). The two different materials are used to provide different sealing characteristics. In one embodiment, the different sealing materials join to create the same or a similar profile (46, 48) to the profile of the individual materials. In another embodiment, the different sealing materials have the same profile (68, 70) but have joining portions that are complementary to one another where the two materials are joined to one another.
Abstract:
Gaskets, including aircraft gaskets, are disclosed, the gaskets having an elastomeric gel body and substantially incompressible skeletons. The bodies may be pliable and deformable and, in one example, may be comprised of a two-part chemically cured polyurethane that sets up as a gel after mixing with the web so that it is fully integral with the web and so that there is substantially no air bubbles or air pockets left in the web. The web may be a regular shaped web and made of nylon.
Abstract:
A gasket for use between adjoining pipe flanges includes a retainer which defines a bore and includes a first face and an opposite second face. The retainer is constructed and arranged with a first groove in the first face and with a second groove in the second face, the first groove includes a first form for seal retention and the first seal element includes a first cooperating form for retention of the seal element within the first groove. A second seal element is received within the second groove and the retention of each seal element within its respective groove is accomplished without the use of a bonding material.
