摘要: A corrugated cardboard blank for making a collapsible container including one or more panels joined to a bottom panel. The bottom panel is divided into first and second sectional panels on opposing sides of an interface comprising perforated portions extending from a first pair of diagonally opposing comers of the bottom panel. Each perforated portion includes an inner end, wherein the inner ends of the perforated portions are longitudinally spaced from each other. First and second fold lines extend diagonally at least partially between a second pair of diagonally opposing comers of the bottom panel and respective perforated portions. A frangible central portion of the interface extends between the inner ends of the perforated portions, wherein a plurality of unbroken flutes of the corrugated material extend laterally across the central portion of the interface.

摘要: Batch processes for catalytic carboxylation of cellulose include single- and multi-stage catalytic carboxylation processes. Methods for such processes include oxidizing cellulose with a nitroxide catalyst primary oxidant and a secondary oxidant, and stabilizing the carboxylated cellulose to convert non-carboxyl substituents to carboxyl groups. Single-stage processes include one catalytic carboxylation step, and multi-stage processes include a recycle sequence to perform multiple carboxylation steps by transferring the cellulose from the carboxylation reactor for pH adjustment and optionally stabilization prior to recycling the cellulose to the reactor for further oxidizing. Systems to implement multi-stage batch processes include a carboxylation reactor in which a mixture of carboxylation agent and cellulose in an aqueous slurry is allowed to react to carboxylate the cellulose in the slurry. A recycle loop selectively transfers the slurry from the reactor, allow alkalizing agent to contact the carboxylated cellulose in the slurry, and then return the slurry to the reactor.

摘要: A refining member for a pulp refiner comprising a refining body with a refining surface comprising refiner bars separated by refiner grooves and teeth. Each of the refiner bars extend from a radially inward position on the refining surface to a first radially outward position on the refining surface, and the teeth extend to a second radially outward position on the refining surface. The second radially outward position is nearer to an outermost part of the refining body than the first radially outward position. The refiner bars are adapted to refine wood fibers, and the teeth are adapted to break up fiber bundles.

摘要: A folded blank (10) for forming a display case (8) and a display case (8) formed from the folded blank (10). The folded blank (10) comprises a one-piece blank (10) including a first panel (24), a second panel (26), a third panel (28) and a fourth panel (30) connected in series at respective first, second and third vertical fold lines (32, 34, 36). The first panel is folded about the first vertical fold line and is engaged on a first portion of the second panel at a first manufacturer's joint strip (64). The fourth panel (30) is folded about the third fold line (36) and is engaged on the first panel (24) at a second manufacturer's joint strip (66). The first portion forms a tear-away section (26a) defined by at least one separation line on the second panel (26). The first manufacturer's joint strip (64) retains the tear-away section (26a) in engagement with the first panel (24) during erection of the folded blank (10) to form the display case (8) having a display window. The invention comprises also a method of forming a display case (8) from the blank (10).

摘要: Pulps in accordance with certain embodiments include crosslinked cellulose fibers and have high brightness, reactivity, and intrinsic viscosity, and therefore can be well suited for use as a precursor in the production of low-color, high-viscosity cellulose derivatives. A method in accordance with the present technology includes forming a pulp from a cellulosic feedstock, bleaching the pulp, crosslinking cellulose fibers within the pulp while the pulp has a high consistency, and drying the pulp. Crosslinking the cellulose fibers can include exposing the fibers to a glycidyl ether crosslinker having two or more glycidyl groups and a molecular weight per epoxide within a range from 140 to 175. Another method in accordance with the present technology includes providing an aqueous suspension of pulp that includes chemical wood pulp fibers that were previously bleached and dried, crosslinking the fibers with such a glycidal ether crosslinker, and drying the pulp.

摘要: Collecting roll data associated with a sensing roll and a mating roll forming a nip includes generating sensor signals from a first sensor array on the sensing roll and a second sensor array on the mating roll during rotations of the mating rolls and sensing rolls. A periodically occurring first time reference is associated with each rotation of the mating roll and a periodically occurring second time reference is associated with each rotation of the sensing roll. For a received sensor signal, based on whether the received signal is from the sensors of the mating roll or the sensing roll, a tracking segment on the other roll is detected that enters a region of the nip concurrent with the sensor that generated the received signal. The detection is made from either a most-recent-identified first time reference or second time reference. The received signal can then be stored using the detected tracking segment.
