Abstract: The present invention provides, in part, compositions and methods of targeted delivery of an agent or cells to islet endothelial cells in the pancreas using a novel islet-targeting molecule. Accordingly, one aspect of the present invention provides a composition comprising a carrier particle attached to an islet targeting molecule, wherein an agent is associated with the carrier particle, and is therefore targeted to islet cells by the islet targeting molecule. In some embodiments, the islet targeting molecule is an islet-targeting peptide. In some embodiments, such a carrier particle is a nanoparticle or similar.
