Abstract:
A securement device for securing a medical article, comprising a base having a longitudinal axis, a top face and a bottom face, where the longitudinal axis defines a longitudinal direction, a cuff disposed on the top face of the base and positioned along the longitudinal axis, the cuff comprising an entry gap in at least a portion of the cuff and defining an interior aperture, and a bar disposed on the top face of the base, the bar positioned along the longitudinal axis, where the bar is moveable between an open position and a closed position and where the bar cooperates with the cuff in the closed position to secure the medical article.
Abstract:
A method of making a multilayer all-ceramic dental appliance. A first article can be formed of a first material based on a first digital surface representation having a desired outer shape of the dental appliance. A portion of the first article can be removed to form an outer layer comprising a cavity dimensioned to accommodate an inner layer. A second article can be formed by filling the cavity of the first article with a second material. The second article can be further processed, as desired. For example, a desired inner shape can be formed in the second article. Such a desired inner shape can be based on a second digital surface representation of a dental object configured to receive the dental appliance. At least one of the first article, the outer layer, and the second article can be fired, for example, while still being coupled to a support.
Abstract:
Substituted saccharide compounds, dental compositions comprising substituted saccharide compounds, and methods of using dental compositions are described. In one embodiment, the substituted saccharide amide compound comprises a hydrophobic group and at least one free-radically polymerizable group with the proviso that the hydrophobic group is not bonded to the ethylenically unsaturated carbon atom of the free-radically polymerizable group. The hydrophobic group is typically bonded to a nitrogen atom of a saccharide amine residue or a carbonyl moiety of saccharide amide residue.
Abstract:
Dental compositions and biphenyl di(meth)acrylate monomers are described. The dental compositions comprise at least one biphenyl di(meth)acrylate monomer comprising two aromatic rings connected with a C-C bond wherein the rings each comprise a substituent comprising a urethane moiety and a (meth)acrylate end group.
Abstract:
The invention refers to a photopolymerizable precursor of a pressure-sensitive thermosettable adhesive, said precursor comprising: (i) from about 30 % to about 80 % by weight with respect to the mass of the precursor of a photopolymerizable component, comprising a monomeric or prepolymeric syrup, said component exhibiting an overall solubility parameter of between 10 and 11 and comprising (A) at least 30 % by weight with respect to the mass of the photopolymerizable component (i) of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers with a solubility parameter of between 10 and 11.5 and less than 10 % by weight with respect to the mass of component (i) of one or more ethylenically unsaturated compounds with a solubility parameter of more than 11.5, or (B) at least 50 % by weight with respect to the mass of the photopolymerizable compound (i) of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers with a solubility parameter of between 9.5 and 11.5 and 10-30 % by weight with respect to the mass of the photopolymerizable component (i) of one or more ethylenically unsaturated compounds with a solubility parameter of between 11.5 and 12.5 provided that in case (B) the precursor comprises between 3-15 % by weight with respect to the mass of the precursor of one or more polymers with a solubility parameter of 10-12.5; (ii) from about 20 to about 70 % by weight with respect to the mass of the precursor of one or more epoxy resins and/or monomers; (iii) an effective amount of a photoinitiator; and (iv) an effective amount of one or more nucleophilic latent hardeners for the epoxy resins and/or epoxy-containing monomers which are selected to provide an onset temperature of the epoxy curing reaction of between 40-100 DEG C when subjecting the adhesive to a DSC scan at a rate of 20 DEG C/min. The invention furthermore refers to thermosettable adhesives which are obtainable by photopolymerization of said precursor and to thermoset adhesives which are obtainable by thermal curing of said thermosettable adhesives. The thermosettable adhesive of the invention is particularly useful for bonding a plastic substrate to other substrates such as metal, glass, ceramic, wood and plastics.
Abstract:
A securement assembly is disclosed that uses a combination of adhesive as well as mechanical fasteners for effectively securing a device to a surface. The securement assembly can be used to protect the surface from the device being secured. The securement assembly comprises an adhering element with a first mechanical fastener and a securing element with a second mechanical fastener, wherein the securing element can serve as both a cover for the adhesive on the adhering element while also providing the securement between the first mechanical fastener and second mechanical fastener.
Abstract:
Curable dental compositions, dental articles, and methods of making or using such compositions or articles are described. In one embodiment, the curable dental restoration composition comprises a resin system comprising a free-radically polymerizable semi-crystalline resin having a molecular weight no greater than 2000 g/mole and at least 50 wt-% of nanocluster filler.
Abstract:
Methods of fabricating a dental restoration from dental mill blanks that further comprise a dental implant abutment integrated therein are described. Also described are dental mill blanks and dental prosthesis articles and methods of making dental mill blanks.
Abstract:
A dental article such as a crown is fabricating by layering one or more preformed shells of SMC material onto an understructure. The understructure may be fabricated from any suitably strong material for use in replacing dentition. At the same time, a number of SMC shells may be used to provide a finished dental article having a natural-looking, multi-chromatic appearance. The SMC material(s) may be cured to provide an exterior hardness suitable for use in dental applications.
Abstract:
By capturing a highly detailed three-dimensional digital model of dentition, a suitable replacement dental article can be fabricated with a combination of digitally-controlled reductive processes such as milling and digitally-controlled additive processes such as digital painting. A dental article so-manufactured can provide an aesthetically pleasing, multi-chromatic appearance that closely matches surrounding dentition.
