A drive assembly (46) for an automatic pool cleaner (APC), the assembly comprising: a driven wheel or pulley (62); a first gear (118) connected to the driven wheel or pulley; a second gear (126); a third gear (130); and means for moving the first gear (118) so as to engage either of the second (126) and third (130) gears, engagement with the second gear (126) causing rotation of the driven wheel or pulley (62) in a first direction and engagement with the third gear (130) causing rotation of the driven wheel or pulley (62) in a direction opposite the first direction.

Swimming pool cleaners, and associated hoses and connectors used with swimming pool cleaners may include a lock mechanism for releasably locking multiple hose segments or other components together in varying, discrete locked positions, such that a user can adjust the connection between the components to obtain a fluid tight joint. In these or other embodiments, one or both components can include an improved sealing structure that may facilitate forming such a fluid tight joint.

Automatic pool cleaners (APCs) and components thereof are detailed. The APCs may include tracks for movement, with the tracks having teethed internal surfaces. The APCs additionally may supply shift mechanisms for purposes of changing direction of their movement and incorporate bladed scrubbers and easily-opening bodies.
