Abstract: There is provided a process for making a microarray. The process comprises the steps of: a) providing a plurality of holes that extend into a substrate; b) providing a population of microparticles that are chemically or biologically active; and c) forcing the microparticles at least partially into said holes, wherein the holes and microparticles are dimensioned relative to each other to enable locking engagement of said microparticles at least partially within said holes.
