Abstract: The present invention relates to glass ceramics, in particular to machinable glass ceramics based on mica (eg fluormica) and to a process for preparing such glass ceramics by melting and crystallising magnesium fluoro alumino-silicate glasses and to their uses such as in dental crowns and inlays or industrially where there is a requirement for good electrical insulation and/or low thermal conductivity coupled with excellent machinability.
