Abstract:
An improved head for a flexible line trimmer apparatus is provided. The improved head includes a metal tubing that extends through the head and surrounds a cutting line of selected length. The tubing is provided with a flared exit portal increasing the efficiency of the head. The contact surface eliminates the possibility of the cutting line fusing to plastic surfaces due to heating caused by friction. The head is surrounded with an interior perimeter counterweight to store kinetic energy on each end having a parabolic surface of revolution concentric with the axis of the tubing. A replaceable cartridge is provided to increase the ease of maintenance and the useful life of the head.
Abstract:
This invention is generally concerned with the use of near-field or inductively coupled UWB (Ultra Wide Band) systems to implement high speed electrical data connectors without the need for a direct electrical connection. A data connector system, the system having a first connector portion and a second connector portion, said first connector portion comprising a UWB transmitter with a data input and a first UWB coupling element driven by said UWB transmitter, said second connector portion comprising a second UWB coupling element and a UWB receiver with a data output, said UWB receiver having an input from said second UWB coupling element, and wherein said data connector system has a connected configuration in which said first and second UWB coupling elements are within an operative range of one another such that said coupling elements are inductively coupled to one another to permit data to be transferred from said data input to said data output, and a disconnected configuration in which said first and second connector portions are separated by greater than said operative range.
Abstract:
A razor cleaning device particularly suited for multi-bladed disposable razors, comprising a brush and at least two sets of teeth supported by a handle. One of the sets of teeth of said device extend from the handle at an oblique angle. The second set of teeth extend from the opposite side of the handle at equal but opposite oblique angles. Therefore, the teeth on each side to point in equal, but opposite directions. Further, the teeth in each set are tapered in a stepwise fashion to coincide with the offset parallel blades of a razor. This allows each set of teeth to align with and clean several bl0d5s of the razor simultaneously. A cloth-like tail is also attached to the device for wiping and cleaning the wades and razor during or after cleaning with the brush and teeth.
Abstract:
This invention generally relates to wired and wireless ultra wideband (UWB) data communications apparatus and methods, and in particular to UWB receiver systems and architectures, and to UWB transmission systems and signals. A UWB receiver system for receiving a UWB signal comprising a plurality of pulses, the system comprising: a receiver front end to receive a UWB signal; a reference UWB signal store for storing a reference UWB signal; and a correlator configured to correlate said received UWB signal with a plurality of differently delayed versions of said stored reference signal to codetermine a timing and a phase of a received UWB signal pulse; whereby a UWB signal carrying data encoded by both pulse position and pulse phase is decodeable.
Abstract:
An ultra-wideband (UWB) network comprising a plurality of UWB devices each forming a node of said network, pairs of said UWB devices being configured for communication with one another using one of a plurality of UWB charnels, each said UWB device comprising a UWB transceiver (610) for bidirectional communication over one or more of said UWB channels (610a, 610b) with at least one other of said UWB devices; and a device controller coupled to said UWB transceiver, said controller being configured to determine a said UWB channel for use in establishing a communication link with each other UWB device and to store connection data associating a list of said channels bearing incoming data with a second of said channels for use in forwarding said incoming data to another of said devices. In one embodiment, the controller of an UWB device comprises a memory access controller (614) being the master of a second data bus (616).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to transgenic animals, as well as compositions and methods relating to the characterization of gene function. Specifically, the present invention provides transgenic mice comprising mutations in a platelet activating receptor gene, a platelet activating factor receptor gene, an LPR5 gene or a cerberus gene. Such transgenic mice are useful as models for disease and for identifying agents that modulate gene expression and gene function, and as potential treatments for various disease states and disease conditions.
