Abstract:
An anchor coat layer is formed on a polyester molding before coating it with a solution of a vinyl alcohol resin having excellent gas barrier properties, by coating the surface of said molding with a solution in a solvent of a polyester of the following formulation having a limiting viscosity of 0.4 or more: acid component: terephthalic and/or isophthalic acid 90 to 40 mol %; aliphatic dicarboxylic acid containing 2 to 12 carbon atoms 10 to 60 mol %; diol component: straight-chain or cyclic diol containing 2 to 8 carbon atoms 90 to 10 mol %; branched diol containing 3 to carbon atoms 10 to 90 mol %. Thus, a polyester molding with excellent gas barrier properties can be obtained.
Abstract:
A highly stable aqueous solution of a partially saponified vinyl ester resin, which contains a partially saponified vinyl ester resin with a degree of saponification of 70 mol% or below in a concentration of 50 % by weight or below and has at a concentration of 30 % by weight a cloud point y ( DEG C) satisfying the formula: 1ny > 0.042x + 1.0 wherein x represents the degree of saponification (mol%). This solution is highly useful, in particular, as a dispersion auxiliary for use in a suspension polymerization of vinyl compounds.
Abstract:
An oxidized polymer solution is produced by oxidizing a saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer in solution in a solvent mixture comprising water and an alcohol in the presence of a salt of a multivalent metal. A laminate is produced by coating a base material such as a polymer film with the polymer solution.
Abstract:
A biodegradable resin composition comprising a saponified ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and a starch, wherein the copolymer has an ethylene content of 20 to 60 mole %, a degree of saponification of the vinyl acetate units of 90 mole % or above, a melt flow index of 1 to 100 g/10 min at 210 °C under a 2,160 g load, and an θ60 to θ5 ratio of 0.5 to 4, wherein θ60 is the melt viscosity of the sample kept at 250 °C for 60 min and θ5 is the one at 250 °C for 5 min. The layer of this composition can form a laminated structure with another material such as a photodegradable polymer.
Abstract:
A dispersion stabilizer comprising (A) a polyvinyl alcohol resin containing oxyalkylene groups and having a surface tension of 35 to 55 dyne/cm at 20oC as a 1 wt % aqueous solution and, if necessary, (B) a water-soluble polymer or a lowly saponified, lowly polymerized polyvinyl alcohol resin. This dispersion stabilizer can improve a void ratio of the polyvinyl resin particles and raise a bulk density thereof and, in addition, improve uniformity of the particle size distribution and void ratio.
