Abstract:
The ice rink resurfacing machine includes a steerable vehicle (2), a container (4) for icy slush, an ice-machining unit (1) equipped with its own sliding carriers (7, 8), and a removal conveyor (3) for moving the icy slush from the ice-machining unit (1) to the container (4). The ice-machining unit (1) essentially includes a transverse blade element (5), its carrier (9) and a rotating horizontal screw (6) in the same direction in front of it. Improved operation is achieved when, the horizontal screw (6) is located in a tube (10) of essentially the same size, in which there is a gap (11) open against the ice, and which form together with the blade (5) and its carrier (9), except for the gap (11) and the icy slush removal connection, a tight cover around the horizontal screw (6), the feed connection of the removal conveyor (3) is connected to the removal connection of the tube of the horizontal screw. The invention is also concerned with a general method for machining ice.

The object of the invention is an ice-maintenance machine, which includes a steerable vehicule (2), a water tank (15, 16), a platform (4) for icy slush, an ice-maintenance unit (1) propelled by the vehicle, and a removal conveyor (3) for transferring the icy slush from the ice machining unit (1) to the platform (4) and in which the vehicle (2) includes a chassis (5), front and rear axles (8, 11) with wheels (27, 28), a motor (24), and transmission devices connected to the axles including a cardan axle (22) between them and a distribution gearbox (23). A low structure is achieved when the chassis (5) is formed of a box structure, which itself forms the water tank (15, 16), and that the centre of the chassis includes a longitudinal channel (7) for the cardan axle (22) and the distribution gearbox (23).
