The invention relates to a method of preparing a composition comprising (a) reacting a binder component (B) comprising at least one alkoxysilane (B2), and a polymer dispersion (PD), thus obtaining a prepolymer and subsequently (b) mixing or hydrolyzing and polycondensing said prepolymer in the presence of water and at least one antimicrobial agent (Z) comprising at least one antimicrobial active (Z1) and optionally a particulate carrier substance (Z2), wherein the at least one antimicrobial agent (Z) is unreactive during step (b).

The present invention concerns a method of making a porous material comprising the following steps in the order a-b-c-d: (a) reacting at least one organosilane (A) with water in the presence of a solvent (C) to form a polymeric material, (b) subjecting said polymeric material to a first heat treatment, (c) bringing said polymeric material into contact with at least one dehydroxylation agent (D), (d) subjecting said polymeric material to electromagnetic radiation and/or to a further heat treatment. The present invention furthermore concerns the porous material obtainable by the inventive method, semiconductor devices and electronic components comprising said porous material, and the use of said material for electrical insulation and in microelectronic devices, membranes, displays and sensors.

Process for the preparation of silicate-containing polyolic binders suitable for two-component polyurethane coating materials, comprising an isocyanate component (A) and a polyolic binder component (B), comprising the steps - addition of from 0 to 10 times the amount of water (based on the SiO 2 content used) and from 0.1 to 20 times the amount (based on the SiO 2 content used), at a temperature of from 10 to 60°C, of at least one organic solvent (L) - at least one alkoxysilane (C) in an amount of from 0.1 to 20 μmol per m 2 of surface area of (K), and - if appropriate, further solvent (L), to an aqueous silica sol (K) having a mean particle diameter of from 5 to 150 nm and a silicic acid content, calculated as SiO 2 , of from 10 to 60% by weight, with a pH of from 2 to 4, - addition of the polyolic binder component (B) to the mixture thus obtained and - at least partial distillation of the organic solvent (L).

Furthermore, the invention refers to a kit of parts comprising as components A), B), and C); to the use of the polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes in coatings, lacquers, paintings, films and polymer compositions; to coatings obtainable by curing of these compositions; and to the use of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes containing at least one metal atom, in particular polyhedral oligomeric stannasilsesquioxane to increase the scratch resistance of coatings.
