Abstract: The present invention relates to a recombinant Pichia pastoris cell comprising at least one mutation in the dihydroxyacetone synthase gene 2 (DAS2) resulting in a reduced dihydroxyacetone synthase activity compared to a wild-type Pichia pastoris cell, wherein the DAS2 gene comprises a nucleotide sequence having at least 80% identity with SEQ ID No. 1.
