Abstract:
The invention relates to a lock (5) for a hinged closure, comprising a housing (8) adapted to be mounted on a frame (3) of the closure, and seating internally thereof a bolt device (4) reciprocable relative to the housing between respective open and closed positions of the closure and having a throw of substantially 70mm to bridge in use a gap between the frame and a facing keeper, characterised by a Eurocylinder lock means (5) adapted to engage and retain the bolt (4) in the locked, or closed, position of the closure. There is also disclosed means to protect the said lock (5) against vandalism, the means comprising in disclosed embodiments a cover plate (305,305a), an inclined escutcheon (6), or smooth fillet weld(s) securing the escutcheon (6) to the housing (8).
Abstract:
Rapid setting plugging compositions comprising oil, clay, magnesium chloride, and magnesium oxide powder are provided for sealing permeable zones in subterranean formations. The invention also relates to methods for using said compositions. The permeable zones may be sealed by passing the plugging composition and water to the subterranean formation. While being exposed to downhole temperatures in a range of from about 0°F to about 500°F, the plugging composition quickly thickens to form a sealing mass that is substantially impermeable to fluid in less than about 1 minute after contacting the water. It then usually develops an effective amount of compressive strength to prevent it from being washed away within a period ranging from about 5 minutes to about 2 hours at temperatures ranging from about 0°F to about 500°F.
Abstract:
The invention relates to apparatus (1) adapted for locking and unlocking a closure (not shown), comprising a housing (2), a bolt (3) reciprocable between respective locked (Fig.1) and unlocked positions, a deadbolt (4) operative to engage and disengage the bolt (3) in the respective positions, and a mechanism (5) including a combination lock means (6) for operating the deadbolt (4), the arrangement being such that on operation of the mechanism (5) the bolt (3) can be moved between the respective locked and unlocked positions of the apparatus (1) consequent on settings of the combination lock means (6).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a roof box (1) for mounting to a vehicle via roof racks (100). The roof box (1) includes a base section (3) mountable to a vehicle roof or roof rack (100) and a top section (2) that is movable relative to the base section (3) to allow the roof box 1 to be opened and closed. The roof box (1) includes no external protruding seam (4) with the seam (4) flush with the exterior of the roof box (1). The roof box (1) also includes a curved seam (4), double skinned top (2) and double acting action hinge (12) design that all combine to provide improved aesthetics, lower weight, reduced aerodynamic drag, better fuel efficiency and equivalent strength, rigidity and loadings to the art.
Abstract:
A leg assembly is described that links a roof rack bar to a vehicle roof. The leg assembly utilises a T-bar member linked to a rocker member and via a biasing arrangement, the T-bar flanges impinge with the bar flanges to lock the leg assembly in place or optionally move the leg assembly along the bar length by forcing the T-bar member flanges up from the bar flanges until the desired position is reached before release and re-locking.
Abstract:
An eddy-current braking mechanism including a rotor, rotatable about a rotor axis; at least one electrically conductive member coupled to the rotor for rotation therewith; at least one magnet configured to apply a magnetic field extending at least partially orthogonal to the plane of rotation of the conductive member, and characterised in that upon rotation of the rotor, the conductive member is configured to move at least partially radially from the rotor axis into the applied magnetic field.

Abstract:
The application relates to an adjustment mechanism for altering the position of roof box clamps and/or the roof box position on a vehicle. Adjustment of the roof box position relative to a vehicle may be completed without unclamping the roof box from the vehicle roof rack or racks. The clamp or clamps may also be positioned easily relative to roof rack positions prior to fitting.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a roof box (1) for mounting to a vehicle. The roof box (1) includes a securing mechanism (10) that enables the top section (2) of the box (1) to be secured to the base section (3) of the box (1) via a single locking point and which urges the top section (2) from the base section (3) when the roof box (1) securing mechanism (10) is opened allowing the user access to lift the top section (2) open.
