摘要： A method for forming a top seal on a carton being conveyed along a processing path on a form, fill and seal packaging machine using a top sealer (22) including opposing sealing jaws (30,30’) is provided. The carton includes top fin panels configured for sealing to one another to form a top seal. The method includes actuating a first control valve (72) to provide communication between a first pressurized fluid source (64) and a first port (66) of an actuator (38) for moving the actuator toward a first position. The actuator is operatively connected to the sealing jaws (30,30') to move the sealing jaws in a clamping direction while moving toward the first position. A second control valve (74) is actuated to inhibit fluid escape from the actuator through a second port (70) of the actuator to inhibit movement of the sealing jaws in the clamping direction.

摘要： A system, method, and process of using a button diaphragm for a piston pump are provided. The button diaphragm is a thin sheet of material with a raised bead located on its periphery. The button diaphragm also has a button with a button face and a relief. The button is centered and inserted into a mating receptacle on a piston pump thereby aligning the diaphragm on the piston. When suction is applied to the internal surface of the piston the button diaphragm, is aligned with the piston by the button, and the diaphragm is drawn toward the face of the piston, thereby ensuring the diaphragm is properly seated on the piston during operation of the piston pump.

摘要： Laminate structures provide an oxygen barrier for use in packaging of liquid and non-liquid (dry) products preferably, fruits, citrus juices, teas, other beverages, and the like. The laminate structures contain at least one oxygen barrier layer of a partially aromatic nylon. Particularly useful partially aromatic nylons are those utilizing MXD6/MXDI chemistry. The partially aromatic nylon layer provides an oxygen barrier comparable to ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) when used at high relative humidities. The partially aromatic nylon layer simplifies laminate structure and saves materials costs.

The magazine cover (104) has an integrated air manifold (212) that directs pressurized conditioned air over the carton blanks towards suction ports . The suction ports (214) collect the air with potential contaminants and filter the air prior to ejecting it away from the vicinity of the packaging system.

摘要： An apparatus for effecting closure of an open end of a carton blank by placing portions of the carton blank into overlying relationship to one another is provided. The apparatus includes a cam that rotates about an axis of rotation and a cam lever that is operatively connected to the cam. The cam lever is used to convert rotating motion of the cam into linear motion to define a first stroke distance. A pressure pad is mounted for movement toward and away from the portions of the carton blank. The pressure pad is capable of being moved in response to input provided by the cam to define a second stroke distance. An air spring is mechanically linked to the cam lever and the pressure pad such that the air spring absorbs a portion of the first stroke distance.
