Abstract:
An optical device comprising a polymer comprising at least one repeating unit derived from a compound of the following formula: W-Y-O-Z wherein W is hydrogen, X or X-O, X is a monovalent unsaturated organic moiety; Y is a divalent organic moiety; and Z a monovalent fluorinated organic moiety.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for producing fluorinated organic compounds, including hydrofluoropropenes, which preferably comprises converting at least one compound of formula (I): CF 3 CF n CH m X a-m (I) to at least one compound of formula (II) CF 3 CZCHZ (II). where each X is independently Cl, F, I or Br; each Z is independently H or F; n is 1 or 2; m is 1, 2 or 3, provided that when n is 1, m is 1 or 2; a is 2 or 3, and a-m ≥ 0. Certain embodiments include the step of reacting fluorinated C2 olefin, such as tetrafluoroethylene, with a C1 addition agent under conditions effective to produce a compound of formula (I).
Abstract:
The present invention describes halogenated alkane fire extinguishing compositions consisting essentially of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoro propane, optionally pentafluoro ethane, and optionally one or more fire extinguishing fluoro- or chlorfluoroalkanes.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an ink for recordable media comprising a coating moiety and at least one fluorinated alcohol solvent for said at least one coating moiety, the fluorinated alcohol solvent preferably having a surface tension of not greater than about 27 dynes/cm. In certain preferred embodiments the fluorinated alcohol has the structure R f -OH, wherein R f is selected from the group consisting of H-[CX 2 ] n ; Z-[CX 2 -CX 2 ] n ; Z-[CZX-CX 2 ] n ; Z-[CZX-CZX] n -; CZ 2 CH-; Z-[CX=CX] ri ; Z-[CZ=CX] n ; Z-[CZ=CZ] n ; Z-[CX 2 ] n CX 2 =CX-[CX 2 ] n - and Z-CZX-CX(CZX 2 )-, wherein Z is independently -CF 3 , -CHF 2 , - CH 2 F; -R-CF 3 , -R-CHF 2 , or -R-CH 2 F, wherein R is a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 12 alkyl radical, or a substituted or unsubstituted fluorinated C 1 -C 12 alkyl radical; X is independently hydrogen, Cl, Br, F, I, or Z; and n is an integer from 1 to 20.
Abstract:
Ionic liquids having melting points below 100 C formed by reaction of a heterocyclic amine with about 2.8 and about 3.2 moles of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride per mole of amine nitrogen. Electrochemical devices having non-aqueous electrolytes containing the ionic liquids are also disclosed, as well as silicon oxide etching compositions containing the ionic liquids and etching methods in which silicon oxides are selectively removed by the etching compositions in the presence of aluminum.
