    Abstract: A particulate filter (4) regeneration system includes at least two microwave sources (6) for producing microwaves connected so that the microwaves heat particulate filter (4). Alternatively, there can be at least one microwave source (6) in communication with particulate filter (4) through a plurality of ports. A method of regenerating particulate filter (4) includes the steps of passing engine exhaust through particulate filter (4), followed by heating particulate filter (4) from a plurality of directions with microwaves.
