Abstract:
A method of blending a fine precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) filler with larger PCC, the resulting blend to be used alone or in conjunction with a ground carbonate, clay or other filler, resulting in improved porosity by the lowering of the porosity of supercalendered paper, thereby imparting improved and offset printability. The fine PCC can be ultrafine PCC filler which then is blended with other fillers including but not limited to pigments. These fillers which are blended with the fine PCC include commercial and experimental PCC and commercial clays. Ultrafine PCC has agglomerates of small, discrete particles. Ultrafine PCC for use in the invention has a specific surface area of about 20 m2/g as measured by BET gas adsorption. As measured by a sedigraph, the average size of these agglomerates is from 0.4 to 1.1 microns.
Abstract:
A method, a computer readable medium, and a system for discovering an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) in a Dense Wave Division Multiplex (DWDM) hybrid Passive Optical Network (PON) Line Terminal (LT), comprises implementing, by an Optical Line Termination (OLT), a ranging procedure on at least one downstream link, wherein the OLT is communicably coupled to the ONT, discovering at least one new ONT, by the OLT, on the at least one downstream link based on the ranging procedure, discovering an unranged ONT, by the OLT, during the ranging procedure, and determining, by the OLT, that the unranged ONT resides on the at least one downstream link.
Abstract:
A method and computer program product for locating data in a system including a plurality of archive units, and answering a query directed to an archive unit. Locating includes broadcasting a query to all the archive units(902); identifying a set of the archive units that could contain a result for the query(904); receiving at least one query reply from the archive units(906); and validating the query reply when the archive unit that sent the query reply is in the set(910). Answering includes receiving the query; responding to the query when the archive unit could contain a result for the query ; and discarding the query without responding when the archive unit could not contain a result for the query.
Abstract:
A workpiece is supported by work support means (40; 40'; 40''; 44'; 142, 144) for movement in a first direction by co-operating workpiece clamping and feeding means (46; 142, 144), both said means being supported on a carriage (16) for movement in a second direction normal to the first to move a workpiece relative to a sewing machine head. Both of said means are arranged on both sides of an elongated aperture (42) extending in the second direction in alignment with a needle penetration point (N). Stepping motors (24; 60) are provided for moving the carriage (16) and operating the workpiece clamping and feeding means (46; 142, 144) under programmed control. A camera (70) is also provided aligned with the aperture (42), for detecting the peripheral outline of a workpiece fed therebeneath. Computer means is effective, in response to the detected outline, to identify the workpiece type and its orientation and location on the workpiece support means and accesses an appropriate stitch pattern data file and modifies the data to take account of the workpiece orientation and location. The workpiece is then sewn according to the thus modified data.
