Abstract: A fluid pump having a pump motor, pump housing, and pump seal enclosure. The pump housing includes an internal pumping chamber, a suction orifice in flow communication with the pumping chamber, a discharge orifice in flow communication with the pumping chamber, and a drive shaft opening. The pump seal enclosure is disposed between the pump motor and the pump housing. A pump drive shaft is rotatably driven by the pump motor and extends through the pump seal enclosure and the drive shafting opening into the pumping chamber. A drive shaft seal assembly is disposed within the pump seal enclosure. The drive shaft seal assembly includes a spring seat fastened to the drive shaft, the spring seat being disposed coaxially with the drive shaft and adjacent the pump motor and further having a first alignment mechanism, a rotary ring disposed coaxially with the drive shaft and having a second alignment mechanism for engaging the first alignment mechanism of the spring seat, a stationary ring disposed coaxially with the drive shaft and fastened to the pump seal enclosure adjacent the drive shaft opening, and a compressible spring disposed coaxially with the drive shaft between the spring seat and the rotary ring, wherein the spring biases the rotary ring against the stationary ring.

Abstract: A process from tempering large aluminum lithium alloy component parts to achieve high strength capability and resistance to stress corrosion cracking without the need for the prior art step of cold working the alloy components parts. The process achieves the desired material properties by the use of two novel soaking time periods and the use of novel controlled temperature selection at the two respective soaking times as well as carefully controlling the temperature decrease from one soaking time period to the other.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a particulate feeding apparatus for applying particulate, such as super-absorbent materials, to a substrate, such as a fibrous web. The apparatus may include a feeder tube for the powder and a rotary gate valve, including one or more holes, which may then intermittently feed particulate to an eductor or venturi nozzle which is located in an air stream. The rotary valve provides an intermittent supply of particulate to a relatively low pressure zone at the nozzle formed by the venturi action of the passing air stream and the particulate may be distributed precisely where desired. A process for delivering powder to a substrate in precise amounts and distribution patterns is also disclosed.

Abstract: A commercial toaster apparatus that has a quick start feature that nearly instantaneously changes a lower "standby" temperature to a "full on" temperature that is sufficient to toast a product. The apparatus has heating elements using open coils using a resistance nickel chromium ribbon. A conveyor is used to move the product through the oven of the apparatus so that it may be toasted. The speed of the conveyor is user-controlled so that different degrees of toasting may be obtained. The toaster also provides a rear discharge feature so that the apparatus can function continuously for pass-through operation. The "standby" mode uses less energy since the heating elements are cycled such that only two-seconds of heating occur during every ten-second cycle.
