    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for obtaining a carbon electrode from acid battery waste having very high electrocatalytic activity, which can be used as a cathode or anode for various different uses in electrochemistry, electroplating, electrolytic refining, etc., one of the most interesting uses being in the field of sensor electrodes. The method comprises the following steps consisting in: a) extracting the carbon from the battery and subsequently removing the coating; b) boiling in distilled water for between 5 and 30 minutes; c) washing the electrode with a preferably neutral detergent; d) abrading and washing with boiling water and subsequently with detergent until no residue remains; e) sonicating for between 5 and 30 minutes in distilled water; f) washing the electrode with petroleum ether or another highly apolar solvent; g) sonicating and washing with organic solvents having low to high polarity, changing the water until clean water is obtained; h) boiling the electrode in a solution containing a strong oxidant and acid pH for between 5 minutes and 1 hour; i) repeating the washing and sonication method if necessary; j) polishing in the usual manner for the use thereof; and k) if desired, inserting same into Teflon or PVC in order to insulate part of the surface thereof. The electrical connection can be provided by means of a wire inside the carbon.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a biofungicidal composition from a biologically pure culture of a Chilean bacterial isolate obtained from grape skin corresponding to Serratia plymuthica CCGG2742, to be used as an environmentally-friendly biological control agent for controlling fungal plant diseases, especially fruit susceptible to infection by Botrytis cinerea, efficiently inhibiting the germination of conidia and the proliferation of the mycelium of said phytopathogenic fungi.     Abstract: A post combustor (1) which allows increasing the thermal efficiency and reducing the emission of pollutants in firewood heaters or combusting equipment (19) having a combustion chamber or primary chamber (22) for burning firewood (21), thus generating combustion gases (17).     Abstract: The invention is suitable for use in metal and nonmetal mining and, in general, in any area of operation containing Sb and Bi in solution in an electrolyte based mainly on sulfuric acid. The system consists in contacting: solid lead dioxide (PbO2), which can be surface activated with an oxidising agent, e.g. hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), in order to enhance the reaction thereof, with an acid electrolyte containing Sb and Bi in solution, in order to reduce the soluble Sb and Bi content present in the liquid phase, forming insoluble compounds based on Pb-Sb and Pb-Bi. The invention can be used to reduce the presence of Sb and Bi in solution by at least 70%.
