Abstract:
A method and device for enabling selective privacy in a push to talk (PTT) wireless group communication session provides improved control over sharing of user identity information. The method includes processing at a PTT server a request for selective privacy. The PTT server then processes one or more selective privacy parameters, whereby at least a first session participant is enabled to receive an identification of a second session participant and a third session participant is not enabled to receive an identification of the second session participant. The PTT server then facilitates the PTT wireless group communication session between at least the first session participant, second session participant, and third session participant according to the one or more selective privacy parameters.

Abstract:
These various embodiments are usable in a context that comprises a first network (301) that serves to communicatively couple an entity (302) within a second network (303) (which second network is different than the first network) with an end user platform (304). Pursuant to these teachings this entity is identified (203) as having a predetermined status with respect to being provided with information regarding at least one first network event. When the first network event is detected (204) within the first network, a message is provided (205) to the entity regarding this first network event. By one approach the entity can acquire the indicated status via a subscription process (201 and 202).
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method for executing an emergency plan using a push-to-talk network is disclosed. In a first step, a notification of an emergency is received (204) at an emergency communication platform. Next, a proper response group based on the type of emergency is determined (206). Then, an emergency message is sent (208, 210) to the response group using the push-to-talk network.

Abstract:
A communication system (100) informs participants (e.g., 102 and 104) in a Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) communication session that the session is being recorded by a recording device (e.g., 142) and further provides for a subsequent retrieval of the stored media from the recording device. In various embodiments of the invention, a host (e.g., 102) of the communication session is permitted to determine whether or not the recording device is permitted access to the communication session, and the other participants (e.g., 104) in the session are able to determine whether to remain in the session when the recording device is permitted access. A user of a mobile station (e.g., 103) on behalf of whom the recording device is participating is then able to retrieve the stored media along with information identifying a source of the media and a time associated with the storage of the media.
Abstract:
In the present technique of wireless data synchronization, a data synchronization request to wirelessly synchronize data related to the request with a server is intercepted (304). Synchronization information of the data synchronization request to the server is assessed (306) to determine (308) whether the synchronization information corresponds in at least a predetermined way to a predefined condition. The data related to the data synchronization request is synchronized (310) with the server when the synchronization information corresponds in at least the predetermined way to the predefined condition.

Abstract:
A system (100) and method (200) is provided to customize services (150). The method can include conveying (204) access network information from a user device to a core network using a SIP message, and adapting (206) a service provided by the core network according to the access network information contained in the SIP message. The method can include creating a header field to convey the access network information. A roaming status indictor can be included in a SIP SUBSCRIBE, a SIP INVITE, a SIP MESSAGE or a SIP REGISTER for adapting the delivery of presence state information concerning a resource.
