    摘要: A composition having pH of 5 or less comprises composite particles dispersed in an aqueous continuous liquid phase. Each composite particle comprises a polymer core surrounded by a silicaceous shell. From 3 to 50 percent of silicon atoms in the silicaceous shells are bonded to respective organic groups via a silicon-carbon covalent bond. The weight ratio of the total amount of the silica in the composition to the total amount of the at least one polymer is from 0.1 to 19. The composition is useful for making various articles. A method for making the composition is also disclosed. Silicaceous particles dispersed in an aqueous phase, wherein from 3 to 50 percent of silicon atoms in the silicaceous particles are bonded to organic groups via a silicon-carbon covalent bond are also disclosed.

    摘要: A composition having pH of 6 or less comprises composite particles dispersed in an aqueous continuous liquid phase. Each composite particle comprises a non-cationic polymer core surrounded by a silica shell consisting essentially of silica particles having a mean particle diameter of 3.2 nanometers or less. The weight ratio of the total amount of the silica in the composition to the total polymer is in a range of 0.2 to 2.2. The composition is useful for making various articles. A method for making the composition is also disclosed.

    摘要: Luciferin-containing substrates are provided including a substrate and luciferin dried on the substrate. The luciferin-containing substrate is free of a detectable amount of reactive luciferase. The substrate is optionally a nonwoven substrate. Monitoring devices are also provided. The monitoring devices include a test element having a test portion, a detection reagent comprising luciferase, a luciferin-containing substrate, and a container having a first end with an opening and a second end opposite the first end. The container is configured to receive the test portion and configured to be operationally coupled to an analytical instrument. The detection reagent and the luciferin each are capable of participating in one or more chemical reaction that results in the formation of a detectable product.

    摘要: Provided is a method of producing polymer articles comprising (i) subjecting a composition to additive processing in an additive processing device containing at least one energy source wherein the composition comprises particles of a first polymer, particles of a second polymer and at least one binder material capable of binding the polymer particles to form a layer in a part of the composition that has been exposed to the energy source of the additive processing device; (ii) subjecting at least a part of the composition to exposure of the energy source to form a layer comprising the polymer particles and binder material; (iii) repeat step (ii) to form a plurality of layers to create an article; and wherein the first polymer is selected from polymers having a melting point above of at least 250°C or a glass transition temperature (Tg) of greater than 70°C and is not a fluoropolymer and wherein the second polymer is a fluoropolymer. Also provided are materials obtained by this method and articles containing such materials.

    摘要: The present disclosure provides a multilayer article. The multilayer article includes a) a microfiltration membrane substrate; b) a first layer directly attached to the first major surface of the microfiltration membrane substrate; and c) a second layer directly attached to the first layer. The first layer includes a first polymeric binder and acid-sintered interconnected first silica nanoparticles arranged to form a continuous three-dimensional porous network. The second layer includes acid-sintered interconnected second silica nanoparticles arranged to form a continuous three-dimensional porous network. The present disclosure also provides a method for forming a multilayer article. The method includes (a) saturating a microfiltration membrane substrate with a liquid; (b) applying a first aqueous coating formulation to at least a portion of a first major surface of the microfiltration membrane substrate to form a coated substrate; (c) sintering the coated substrate, thereby forming a first layer; (d) applying a second aqueous coating formulation to the first major surface of the first layer to form a twice-coated substrate; and (e) sintering the twice-coated substrate.

    摘要: A method of making a coatable composition includes: providing a first composition comprising silica nanoparticles dispersed in an aqueous liquid vehicle, wherein the first composition has a pH greater than 6; acidifying the first composition to a pH of less than or equal to 4 using inorganic acid to provide a second composition; and dissolving at least one metal compound in the second composition to form the coatable composition. The silica nanoparticles have a polymodal particle size distribution, wherein the polymodal particle size distribution comprises a first mode having a first particle size in the range of from 8 to 35 nanometers, wherein the polymodal particle size distribution comprises a second mode having a second particle size in the range of from 2 to 20 nanometers, wherein the first particle size is greater than the second particle size. Coatable compositions, antistatic compositions, preparable by the method are also disclosed. Soil-resistant articles including the antistatic compositions are also disclosed.
