Abstract:
Electret webs include a thermoplastic resin and a charge-enhancing additive. The charge-enhancing additive is a fused aromatic thiourea, a fused aromatic urea compound, or a combination thereof. The change-enhancing additive may also include a hindered amine light stabilizer compound. The electret webs may be a non-woven fibrous web or a film. The electret webs are suitable for use as filter media.
Abstract:
A method of modifying a surface of a hydrocarbon-bearing formation is disclosed. The method includes contacting the surface of the hydrocarbon-bearing formation with a fluorinated amine, and the surface of the hydrocarbon-bearing formation includes a carbonate. The method can typically include introducing a treatment composition comprising solvent and at least one of the fluorinated amine or a salt thereof into the carbonate hydrocarbon-bearing formation. Hydrocarbon-bearing formations treated according to the method are also disclosed. Certain fluorinated amines useful for treating carbonate hydrocarbon-bearing formations and methods of making them are also disclosed.

A thermoplastic core-sheath fiber comprises: a polymer fiber core having a coextensive sheath layer disposed thereon, and an electrostatic charge enhancing additive. The sheath layer may comprise poly(4-methyl-1-pentene) and the fiber core and the sheath layer have different compositions. At least one of the fiber core or the sheath layer comprises an electret charge. A nonwoven fibrous web comprising the core-sheath fibers and a respirator including the nonwoven fibrous web are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A nonwoven fibrous web includes a flame retardant nonwoven fabric coated with a fire retardant, wherein the fire retardant comprises ammonium polyphosphate or alkali metal silicate; and wherein the flame retardant nonwoven fabric has a first major surface and an opposed second major surface; a first nonwoven fabric covering at least a portion of the first major surface; and a second nonwoven fabric covering at least a portion of the second major surface. The first and second nonwoven fabrics each comprise oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers and optional reinforcing fibers.
