    Abstract: A fixture (34) has a body (33) that connects to a motor (15), the body having a bore (35). The body has a piston (45) in the bore, separating the bore into a pressure chamber (49) and a lubricant chamber (47) in fluid communication with lubricant in the motor. A technician applies pressure to the pressure chamber, which causes the piston to increase pressure of the lubricant in the lubricant chamber and in the motor. The technician monitors a distance of movement of the piston, indicating a presence of residual air in the lubricant. If the movement meets a minimum, the technician applies a vacuum to the lubricant chamber and bleeds out residual air from the lubricant in the motor.

    Abstract: A submersible pump assembly (11) includes a seal section (19) connected to a motor (17), the seal section having a housing (25) with an outboard bearing (35) at a housing pump end (27) in radial supporting engagement with a drive shaft (33). An inboard bearing (39) is also in the housing pump end and in radial supporting engagement with the shaft. A barrier fluid chamber (77) in the housing pump end contains a barrier fluid (79). A primary shaft seal (41) is located within the barrier fluid chamber and seals the barrier fluid chamber from motor lubricant (56). A secondary shaft seal (43) is mounted in the barrier fluid chamber between the primary shaft seal and the outboard bearing. The secondary shaft seal seals the barrier fluid in the barrier fluid chamber from well fluid exterior of the housing pump end.

    Abstract: An electrical submersible well pump (ESP) (11) has a motor electrical connector (77) mounted to an exterior of the motor (13). A motor sensor (45) connects to an interior side of the motor electrical connector (77). Seal first and second electrical connectors (79a, 79b) mount to an exterior of a seal/motor adapter (19). A seal internal wire (91) within the seal section (17) electrically connects interior sides of the seal first and second electrical connectors (79a, 79b) together. An external motor jumper wire (39) extends alongside the motor (13) between the motor electrical connector (77) and the seal first electrical connector (79a). A pump electrical connector (81a) mounts to an exterior of a pump/seal adapter (23) and connects to a pump sensor (47) within the pump (21). An external seal jumper wire (41) connects between the seal second electrical connector (79b) and the pump electrical connector (81a).

    Abstract: A seal section (19) of a submersible well pump assembly (11) has an expandable and contractible bag (37) surrounded by a pressure equalizing chamber (41). A motor lubricant communication path communicates motor lubricant (35) to the bag interior. A well fluid port (53) admits well fluid into the pressure equalizing chamber. A gas vent passage (65) leads from the pressure equalizing chamber to the exterior. At least one membrane (67) in the gas vent passage allows gas contained in the well fluid in the pressure equalizing chamber to vent. The membrane blocks liquid from flowing through the gas vent passage into and out of the pressure equalizing chamber.
